I earned a single star after more than a 50 articles and I was so thrilled about it, but i logged on to Helium today only to discover that the star had disappeared. Does this happen? I was under the impression that once you earn a star it was forever. Has anybody else here gone through this ? When something like this happens it just kills your desire to write more.

It happens if the article ratings goes down. Also they look at the number of articles also. If you do not write for a couple of days or weeks, still chances of getting a star goes down. With the word limit increased to 350 now, it is more difficult to craft an article. Takes pretty long time.

While 350 is a bit more than the 200 when I first started it is still not that difficult. It just means that more thought and a better argument is needed. Sometimes quantity is needed to get the quality right

Yes losing a star can be very disheartening, especially if you spent a long time trying to earn one. Unfortunately if the rating of your articles goes down, as they can, you can lose a star. Perhaps you were just on the cusp, try not to let it get you to down though as I am sure that you will get it back. I lost mine for a day or so a little while ago so I know how you feel. If you would like any comments for working on any leapfrogs posting in here is a great idea and very useful. I would be happy to lend a hand if you want some help
