I don't know what happened over the holidays, but I got a longing to play Super Mario Brothers..lol! Maybe it had something to do with getting a DS for my birthday (which was a couple of weeks before Christmas..lol), or maybe it was the holiday stress..I don't know..but there it was. So I got the "new" Mario Bros. game for my DS, but that didn't satisfy it, so when my daughter asked me what I wanted for my birthday..I asked for a gift certifcate to that store where you can buy and trade games..you know the store. She actually took me there, and she got me a Gamecube and alas, I was sad to learn they didn't have Super Mario Brothers for it! Did get some other cool games, along with Namco Museum with PacMan and Galaga on it! So, I did a search on the internet and found THE BEST site that has ALL, and I mean every single old school classic game that you can think of TO PLAY ONLINE!!! They even have all the arcade games! And every single game every made for the original Nintendo systems (which I still have)! I maybe late in finding out about this site..but if you don't know about it, check it out and let me know what you think..you can make the screen larger, and hook up a controller to your PC and you're good to go! The site is www.1980-games.com. It comes up in French first I think..but you can switch to US or a few other languages! Let me know what you think..enjoy!

Yes, I do love classic video games like Mario Brothers, Contra amongs others. The reason I love them is that they are not that complicated compared to the newly released video games nowadays.

****UPDATE*****Hi..I couldn't figure out how to edit my original post..but I recently discoverd that some "Mature" content has been added to the site..so please be careful if you visit not to open around your kids and/or significant others that you don't want viewing! Think it's a shame they added that to such a great game site that you may want to share with kids. Please accept my apolgies to anyone that has viewed that site lately.

I like all kinds of video games. Games of the past and the present. I really enjoyed Super Mario Bros. (2 and 3 especially) Another game you may or may not of heard of is Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels. It's available on Super Mario All-Stars for the Super Nintendo and on the Wii shop channel. It's like Super Mario Bros., only a lot harder. Heck, I've got about 40 classic VC games on my Wii. Other older games I've thoroughly enjoyed include: Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Illusion of Gaia, Donkey Kong Country 1-3, Actraiser, Super Mario World 1 and 2, Super Metroid and many others. In case your interested, there is Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine on Gamecube. They're both a lot of fun, but they're obviously not the old school you're looking for. Just throwing that out there.

Sounds like we like a lot of the same games! How about I just requested and got a Gamecube (got fed up trying to find a Wii) for my birthday (December), and the first game I bought was Super Mario Sunshine! I also have Super 64 for my N64, though I can't say that is is my favorite. Thanks so much for your comment and letting me know about Super Mario Brothers..now if I don't find a Wii soon I guess I'll be getting a replacement Super Nintendo!

Yes, I first started playing video games on the old nintendo(made in 1985). Games such as Mike Tysons Punch Out(Came out in 1987 and very addicting),Super Mario Brothers 3(I think its still the most selling game ever),megan man 3,double dragon, paper boy, rygur(the original not the ps2 version),ninja gaiden(the original not the xbox version),bad dudes, friday the 13th. Oh yeah, they should of made a freddie vs. jason video game already. I can't believed they dodged making a game like that with all the other games out.

How's this for old skool- I am in the middle of playing Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy II, and Star Ocean. Diablo, Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen, and Final Fantasy Tactics are among my favorites. Some of the games I really like are Wild Arms, Rainbow Islands, Q-Bert, and Zelda. I would also have to add that I would sit and play Mario or Centipede any day. Remember the old style table-top Centipede?? That was the best. I got a Nintendo when I was 13, and I seemed to forget all about the arcade. It all came rushing back when I bought one of those 'collection' games for my PS2. Old style Asteroids and Centipede. It's great. My kids(14, 11, & 9) don't get what's so great about them. They think the graphics are terrible, and what's so great about a black screen with a pencil drawn triangle ship in the middle of the screen that shoots at odd shaped asteroids flying by while trying to avoid getting hit by them?? Kids just aren't as smart as they think they are. If it wasn't for those 'crappy-graphic' games, they wouldn't have the graphics they have today. HURRRAAAAY for the old skool!!!!

No way...GALAGA!?! OMG, I LOVE Galaga! I haven't played it in ages! I wish it was available for playstation 3 (my husband and I bought it for Christmas), but I looked online and I didn't see it available. Unfortunately I can't play these online games as I'm on dial up. :( I sure would like to play Donkey Kong Jr. My sister used to have it on her ColecoVision along with Mouse Trap, Zaxxon, Donkey Kong, and a few others. I miss playing these old games. They sure were a lot more innocent compared to the new ones of today.

Yes I do love the classic video games don't get me wrong I do play the video games of today but my husband and I have a snes as well and we buy the snes games on amazon.com. We like to go back to the snes games to play them and we don't mind feeling old because they are from our generation its a good break from today's video games. You would say that my husband and I are geeks when it comes to video games.

funny you should mention this i am addicted to playing sonic the hedgehog, its probably my all time favorite video game. i remember playing it on my sega megadrive as a kid and when that broke i was lost, i now have it on a disk with my ps2. i used to be able to complete it all the time, but getting older has made me a little slower in my reactions, i can hardly get to the fourth level. i think i love it some much because it is a great game and it reminds me of my childhood. great times. lol. ;)

I will have to check it out. I consider myself more of an old school gamer than a new school gamer. For the longest time I've had my NES and used it for almost 20 years and it still runs. Tells how something doesn't it. I've got a variety of games, I even got some dating back to the Atari 2600 days. Of course, that was given to me by my grandparents when I was younger and it worked. It don't work now though, which sucks.

I'm a die-hard fan of old school games. Give me all the arcade classics and I'll be happy. I also extend old school to NES, Genesis and SNES. Those were the days. I might try the site, but I'm already content with gaming.

Hey, I hope you enjoy Super Mario Sunshine. I've been meaning to play that game again too. You should also give Luigi's Mansion a look. It's not a traditional Mario game. You don't jump on Goombas. Heck, you can't even jump. But, you get to play as Luigi and rid a mansion of ghosts and rescue Mario in the end. It's got really graphics and it's not particularly long. It's a lot of fun! I can also recommend you try out Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Mario Superstar Baseball. For an old school fix, there's Mega Man Anniversary Collection, Mega Man X Colection, Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Gems Collection. Those are all great values for all of the games included. There's also the Midway Arcade Treasures games. I believe the first one has a lot of early 80s arcade games on it. Dig Dug and Galaga, but I'm not 100% positive. All available on Gamecube, by the way.

Currently in a run of Lufia II, with plans to play Lufia I next. I think the old SNES RPGs were far better then today's games. They had far better stories.

Yes, I love old school games. There is a treasure box full of games collected from over the years for many consoles and the arcade. The selection and availability of games nowadays is amazing. It's also nice to go back and enjoy a game and reminisce with friends. I also like the fact that, unlike many of the new games today, I don't have to devote lots of time with old school games. Pick up a controller, play for a few minutes, and go back to work afterwards. Old school gaming is great because a lot of games can be played on the computer through emulators.

There is actually an adaptor for the Gamecube that you can play Gameboy Advance games on it. It is pretty cool. I had Super Mario Bros. 3 and Dr. Mario for my Gameboy. I don't like all the new videogames with the crazy real graphics. My husband sure does though! My favorite games are puzzle-like games though; Tetris, Zuma and Luxor are my favorites.

Hi, thanks for the info on the website. A dear friend of mine received a free-standing pinball type machine from her hubby for Christmas, and I must admit I've been over her house more than usual just so I can play Ms. Pacman, Space Invaders, Burger Time, Donkey Kong, etc. My kids absolutely love playing these games and the simplicity involved. They are actually fun, without the gore and violence that many of today's games contain. I'm going to check out the site right after I'm done here!
