There are alot of ferral cats around the gardens near me they oftern sit in the garden tormenting the rabbits, but one night the door of the hutch had been opened possibly by the rabbit kicking but during that night the guinea pig codie had got out i have heard him before when there are cats around he makes his distress calls and squeals like they do, but why would he do it, basically letting the catss know were he was surely the fear should render him silent?

in south america breeders of guinea pigs have big problems with cats but have a good technique they use. They mix anti freeze with luxury cat food and put outside their pig pens, domesticated cats love the taste of anti freeze but it kills them pretty quickly. dont know if that is legal to do where you live

Why would he do it? Because guinea pigs aren't wild animals. They still know that they are prey generally and have fear, but why would you keep them outside? This is one of the many reasons guinea pigs should be kept indoors.
