That's awesome, congrats!I always have the opposite feeling, 5K seems like a long distance to me on a track or something, but on the race course it doesn't seem as bad. It still seems long, but I move at a much faster pace and I am always shocked at the pace I'm going at because it is faster than normal.
On my first 5K I started out at the back too and dogs and strollers were there but w... |

That is awesome! Much farther than I can go.
I should try using Google Earth to figure out how far I go. Usually I run trails but tomorrow I'm thinking of doing some streets for my tempo run. |

Thanks! Sometimes I think I have too much confidence since my body doesn't always do what I want it to. But maybe since I think about the marathon so much I should just go for it. I still have over 16 weeks to train. |

Yeah, I'll be doing a 16 week training program too. I'm downloading mine from RunnersWorld as soon as I complete the 10K so that I have a longer race time to base it off of. If I base it off the 5K, I think my training plan wants me to meet paces that are too fast for those distances. It thinks I could finish a marathon in 4 hours and 30 minutes. I'm not so sure about that.
If the marathon h... |

I think running in the water means in a pool though, not the ocean.
But this one definitely looks cool. It says it goes along the water.
My running group isn't totally against barefoot running so they thought it might be okay. And then they were saying really I should build my feet up to that even though it is sand, by trying a mile or two barefoot on sand first. So now my task is to find... |

If you can make it 2 miles normally, you could probably run a 5K. The race atmosphere is really inspiring and can make you push past your normal limits. Although, it would probably be better to have actually run at least 3 miles first. Still, you should train for one Maezee, 5Ks are so much fun! |

You should have gotten a chip! I always get one because even though I don't ever come anywhere close to placing in my age group, I figure there is a chance. And the last 5K they didn't have chips but they did do a raffle at the end and that was pretty cool. Sometimes if they have chips I think only those people are entered for prizes.
I agree about the atmosphere of the marathon. I loved the... |

On the 26th this month (yikes!). I have one more "long" run of training left before the race. That one should be a 6 miler. I'm also supposed to do a tempo run this week so maybe I'll do a night time group run for that (which would be at least tempo run pace for me since I'm the slowest one and will have to struggle to keep up). And then I've got 2 more speed sessions. And possibly a short easy... |

I wouldn't dare run at night in my area, that's when all the crazy drivers are out. At 5am though there aren't too many cars on the roads yet. Although, I did have a close call on a road with construction! I will stay away from that road now. |

| | | I've mostly just been going to classes and working lately. But in my spare time once I have it, I want to practice harmonica, create polymer clay creations, and read more books. Currently, in my "spare time" I am volunteering with a marine mammal rehabilitation center and a guinea pig rescue. If you're interesting in adopting a pet guinea pig, let me know and I'll send you info! |
