Has anyone ever done this? I saw an ad for a temporary job delivering phone books in the paper today. I am thinking about it, but I don't know with gas prices if it is worth it. Anybody done this before? Do they pay well?

Hi lilybug, I've never delivered Phone books, but I do know how it works. I had a friend that delivered phone books about 3 years ago. The company gives you a route, that route will have X amount of phone books to be delivered. Those routes will vary with 100 to 800. What they will have you do is, load up in your vehicle all the books you can carry with you. Delivering phone books is just like a postal carrier delivering mail. They give you like two days to complete all the stops, depending on the size of the route. If you could use the exercise, pick up a little extra cash you can pick up a few dollars. You will be doing more walking then driving. If you had one of those little red wagons to pull along that would help as your going door to door. Will be lots of going back and forth to carry books for the car to each house or business. I can't recall the break down on the math, Seems it was like .10 to .12 per book delivered and you must complete the route too.

That is just way too little money to even bother with it. Thanks for so much info.
