How often do you volunteer and where? I volunteer at my childs school. I do safe arrival three times a week and I stay in the afternoon and help out in the classroom once a week. Plus for parties I go in and help the teacher and cook treats for them. I was helping out at brownies as well but I didn't fell like I was doing anything there so I stopped that, I do little things on the side for that.

I belong to a local organiation call a Time Bank where we volunteer our time and in return get hours put into our account for a time when we may need something done in return. People offer rides, cooking and all sorts of things that others might need in return for the hours. It's a great idea for Sr. Citizens who live alone.

That is neat, I don't think we have anything like that here, plus with everything I do for the school I wouldn't have time to do any more!!!!

A year ago (right now) a girlfriend and I (she a licensed carpenter, and I a certified tiler) volounteered thru our Church, and spent 3 weeks in Atlanta, helping to re-build, finish homes. A heartwarming experience, and our camp was set up so that we didn't have much more than the survivors. It was a chance to pass on love, and teach our skills, as well.

I volunteer at our local medical center once a week. Very enjoyable. I work in the gift shop. Sometimes I stuff envelopes for mailings or clean the shop. You see lots of people. Of course you can't talk about anything after you leave, but it is very rewarding. I have also volunteered at the humane society and the food pantry.
