Temperatures are rising and snow tops are melting, all due to climate change. The Biggest Challenge that the Human Kind is facing today is Global Warming. Few of the most easy ways that we can contribute are - (i) Reduce Power Consumption at Home and in Office. (ii) Make a Car Pool or Use Public Transport System to reduce Carbon emissions. (iii) Stop use of Plastic or Polythene Bags. (iv) Use appliances that uses Solar Energy. If You have Further suggestions kindly contribute and lets make an effort to reduce the Global Warming.

I am doing my share and I am saving gas. I drive at 55 mph and save 20% I have radial tires and save 10% I have my tires properly inflated and save 5% I have a tun up and save 20% I replace my filters and save 10% I don't warm up my car and save 10% I warm up my car and save 5% I slow down long before the stop sign or light and avoid breaking and save 5% I start up slowely and save 5% I don't run my Air Conditioner and save 15% My problem is what to I do with the extra 5% of the gas that keep appearing in my tank? On a serious note we have to look at the solutions and see if the cure is worse than the desease. 1. We use more ethonal and cause food prices to rise and have less food to export to other nations. 2. We substitute compact florsent bulbs and have a mecury problem when disposing them. 3. Reduce industries that produce CO2 and lay off workers. 4. Don't allow controled burning and have wild fires start and wipe out commnities. 5. Force Utility Companies to use more solar and wind power, which are more expensive and not as dependable, there by increasing the cost of fuel and dirviting money form consumer goods and causing more unemployment. We do all this and cause major changes in our life style and economy and for what. We reduct the amount of CO2 we put in the air by a few tons? It is estimated that man put about 600,000 tons of Carbon into the air. Mt St Helen in the first eruption put in over 600,000,000 million tons. There was enough extra ash and carbon put into the air that it was noticably more hazie around the world. No country or all the countries have caused a global haze like that. How do we stop nature from doign that much damage.

Some of the examples they cite in proof that the earth is warming up is that the glaciers in Greenland are melting and they are finding tree stumps. At some time in the past Greenland was not covered by by an ice sheet. It begs the question are we in Global warming or returning to the status quo? What if we push the world economy in a depression and we give rise to dictators like Hitler or Stalin, who together killed 10's of million people? One other thing to consider is that Golobal Warming is based on Computer Models and the models will project the information based upon the information inputted into the program. 25 years ago the computer models were for a global ice age based on the available data. One the the Scientist pointed out that you get totally different projections if you us data for the past 500 years, and a different outcome if you you use 10,000 years and a third set if you use the last 100 years. It is interesting that the answer to preventing the Ice Age was to tax us more and to solve global warming is to tax us more and now an economist tells us theway to end the recession is to tax us more. The answer to every porblem is to tax us more. What does that tell you?

There are also solar variations for the Sol System (solar system). Mars and a couple of other planets have noted warming trends too. Deep sea trenches have geothermal reactions adding some heat to the mix slightly similar to the volcano reason you brought up. While there should be more research for the causes, there shouldn't be shaming tactics, fear, confusion, and outright swindling on the part of organizations, companies, scientists and politicians in this matter.

Your efforts are well appreciated and i hope evryone reading this discussion follow it.. even if everyone in this world does 20 - 30 % of what you are doing we will achieve a big task... and this is not much we are asking. Regarding the questions you have raised..... If we start using more of solar power, wind power, Hydel Power then probably we can meet these challenges.

We are focussing on -reducing our waste -recycling -riding our bikes or walking more -reducing our energy usage -convincing our family and friends to do the same We are also saving up right now so we can build our own pasiive solar straw bale house in the next 5 years hopefully. We will also be using solar energy for electricity. It is our dream to live totally off the grid.

Thats the way we should move ahead.. and try and conserve what ever we can.... and use renewable energy sources for higher consumption.

As individuals, we can do the following: 1. Stop smoking 2. Don't ride your bike, better travel by mass public transport system. 3. Don't use plastic and rubber 4. Don't use refrigerator. 5. Use energy efficient power savers for your electrical appliances.

your suggestions are invaluable .... Refrigerator is the only hard one .. still we can do away with that... or at the max we can run it at a slightly higher temperature to save power... same goes with AC and Heaters also.

Save water - boil only the water you need Use energy efficient products Don't travel by plane if you can

today it has become a major problem and day is not far away that many cities near to seas are going to emerged in sea. this can be prevented. to prevent it firstly we have to change our life style, our habits etc. we have to grow more and more plants to make our environment green so that we can reduce temp. of our near by. as much a possible for little distance we shoul try to walk and then go or we can use cycle. try to use electronic gadget as less as possible because they produce heat which increase our near by temperature. so all thers are the initial steps that to be used to preven global warming. a kind request to grow one plant in a year thats enough if every one goes and we should spread or make people aware of this..
