You don't really need any vegetable stock. Just chop up some veggies in a pot of water and bring it all to a boil. Add some spices (I'm a salty person) and, since you have a cold, maybe a little hot sauce. Then let it cook long enough that the flavor of the vegetables come out into the water. Eat the veggies (for fiber) and drink the water (that's where a lot of the nutrients are now), and enjoy! Hope you get to feeling better!

There are lots of soups that are appropriate for vegans, like robust onion soups and some pumpkin soup. You can always create and invent new recipes, because that's where most of these great recipes are discovered. Since it's against the guidelines to post a recipe, I'll just give you think link so you can search for soups that would perfectly suit your taste!;) http://www.vegan-food.net/category/soup Don't hesitate to invent your own recipe, good luck and good health to you..

I would take a can of vegetable or tomato juice and heat it on the stove - adding in shredded cabbage (lots of it) and whatever I have on hand - some onion, garlic, carrots, mushrooms, peas - it all sounds good to me.

You don't need any type of stock to make soup. What my mom does is, she takes 6 cups of water and cooks that for a little bit then adds, veggies to it, let it cook for a hour then its ready to eat and its really good.

Do you have a bag or can of mixed vegetables? Do you have a blender? It's hard to know what to tell you when I don't know what you have. Can of mixed veggies, put in blender, add spice, esp. ginger (that spice really kicks a cold in the tail, but use if lightly). You can stop there or you can add worchestershire sauce or tobasco sauce (if you like things hot) or pepper or anything else you like. Bag of frozen veggies, cook according to directions, add water and see what I wrote above. If you're having stomach trouble, don't add tabasco sauce and go lightly on the ginger. If your sinuses are involved, put in more ginger. If you have no stomach trouble and can take tobasco sauce, you can go for it, but you may need something to kill the heat. Not sure if you eat dairy, but that's all I know that kills the heat. No blender? Just cook veggies in water, drain juice add ginger and drink. Heavy duty ginger tea can sometimes kill anything. The Asian store ones are awesome, a friend of mine gives me some bags that his daughter brings up from NY City. Take care
