Why are people still not voting??

Every American citizen over 18 should vote. We have fought wars and many people have died or been imprisoned for that right. I know. Most Americans are too lazy or apathetic to vote. Or unpatriotic? This is just me griping. My real question is. Why haven't you voted when your early voting booths are usually open for several weeks? In my state. Tennessee. Voting booths have been open since Jan 16. Yet many, many people wait till the last minute and then can't get off work or it's raining or it's too crowded. Is it that hard to make a decision when thats all you read and hear about? Then at the last minute they say I have to vote for the lesser of two evils because I didn't vote in the primaries. I just can't understand why a person won't vote. I haven't voted for a person that has won yet. I go out of my way to vote for the issues that are important for me and America as a whole. But, I still vote!

Well here in America voters can still be disenfranchised. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama agreed and signed on with a boycott that bans Florida and Michigan Delegates from the DNC. Obama himself said that Florida voters don't matter. Frankly, with politicians like that it's a wonder that anyone still votes democrat. I have to assume people continuing to vote for those candidates are uneducated or just hate Bush so much that they will take any Democrat, no matter how immoral, just to keep Republicans out of the white house. I voted in the primaries because I'm a republican and I know that the candidates I vote for will actually count my vote and appreciate it.

You've got a good point. Personally. I can't see why anyone would vote democratic in this election anyhow. I guess the politicians are correct in assuming that most Americans are just plain stupid. They can't stand voting for someone they don't like and thats all of them. My biggest concern in this election is immigration. If the illegal lovers get in. They will get amnesty for 12 to 25 million people. It dosen't take a professor to see what a strain that would put on our economy, welfare system, social security system, jobs etc. AND it won't stop more from coming in! I've voted Dem most of the time cause I'm a union worker. But, not this time. They want to give away the farm. I'm looking at Romney or better yet. Huckabee. Our entire economy is tied to the immigration issue. I'll bet the illegals will sure try to vote.

Well I think immigration is what makes this country great. The problem is the illegals that are abusing the system and draining our resources. My requirement's for someone to immigrate to this country would be something along the lines of them having a marketable skill, or at least hold a tax paying job for one year to prove they will be an asset and not a liability.

The situation in Florida and Michigan sure needs to be clarified here! There was no "boycott" by either Obama or Clinton, it was the national party that decided those states' delegates wouldn't be seated because they had gone against the party's rules by moving the dates of their primaries up before Super Tuesday. If Obama said anything even close to "Florida voters don't matter" it was taken way out of context. To say people who vote for Democrats are uneducated is not only disrespectful of these voters but it's totally inaccurate! Also, I don't consider any of the Democratic candidates "immoral" by any stretch of the imagination! Annie
