I'm trying to find a site where I can list my crafts and sell without using Etsy or E-bay. Etsy is a great site but nothing sold so I closed the account. Does anyone have any experiences with Ecrater? Whether it be good, bad or ugly I'd love to hear. Thanks so much in advance.

I completey understand why you don't use ebay because they charge you an arm and a leg even if you dont sell your product...have never tried etsy...but as far as Ecrater goes...I think that that is actually a pretty good website because people can actually sell things on there and not get charged an arm and a leg and people on that site are actually willing to pay pretty much any price that you put on your stuff...its kind of like ebay to me though(slow to start but when you get going business really picks up)

Do you actually use Ecrater? I'm asking because I went ahead and signed up but I'm having a problem getting it going and was wondering if you might be able to help.

ecrater is really a 100% FREE online marketplace and a good alternative to ebay. I started my ecrater store http://88shoppexpress.ecrater.com 4th week of July and thank God I already got 5 sales. I also have store on shopmania which I also started July 2008, http://88shoppe.shopmania.biz and made 4 sales there. I'm just promoting now my stores to drive traffics. Good luck to us.

I've never heard of Ecrater but am certainly going to check into it and keep an eye on this discussions for responses. I'm like you, eBay charges too much as far as I'm concerned and although I haven't used Etsy I've heard several people say they haven't done much business there. I really wanted to set up my own online store for our Arts & Crafts business but worked on it for weeks only to find out something wasn't working right and when someone ordered something all I got through PayPal was the money they paid and the name of our business - it didn't tell me what the people ordered :( Big mess up for a new business.

Some of us artsy and craftsy people need to work together and see if we can find a good site to carry our items. Searches I have done in the past didn't do much for me. I would love to do business with E-bay but don't understand it and, my crafts are not the kinds of items I would pay mucho bucks to list them. Sounds like you had a nightmare on your hands. Thanks for responding.

LOL - get me going and I'll write a book, I forgot to mention I visited your hub page and wow do your bowling shoe protectors sound interesting. Do you have a patten or anything? I've never heard of such a thing you could really do good with something like that.

Have you tried Amazon or Craig's List? If not, look at those.

I have never thought about Amazon but I have posted a few things on Craigslist. Didn't go real well but maybe I should try it again. Thanks for responding.

I am sending a link to a site that my sister in law uses for her crafts. I am not sure how they did over Christmas or how anyone else does so I can not say whether it is good or bad but won't hurt to check into it if you haven't already. http://www.craftsfaironline.com/ If for some reason the link don't work let me know as this is the first link I have tried to include in a response.

The link did work. Thanks for including it in your response. I have seen this site before but never took the time to really read and research. Will have to do this soon. Thanks for responding.

I also checked into the site and found some helpful information. I did see they charge $25 for a listing in their directory and didn't look any further at the time as there are tons of free directories out there and I have to watch my 'output' right now. Maybe down the road when things are going better.
