What time is your bedtime?

I put my daughter to bed by 9pm on school nights. It's Saturday today and she just went to bed at 9:20. She was falling asleep on the couch. I usually go to bed shortly after her. But sometimes I find it that I am completely glued to this computer and the next thing I know it's midnight or one am. AHHH! Does this happen to anyone else? I know that it's important to get sleep. Enough sleep, that is. Well, I know that I do not. I get only 5 hours of sleep a night sometimes. I get mandated to stay at work til 10pm. Then I have to come home, get the kid to bed and you know I can't go to bed without checking the email. Then I get to answering emails and discussions. Should I not even touch the computer on these nights so that I can get more sleep? I don't think that is even an option. I want to check on everything online. Especially when it comes to my business. What is your opinion?

i think 5 hours of sleep per day is enough for adult..because when u r oversleep u body tend to get tired.. i'll share my bedtime i hope its helping u.. i first sleep at 8pm-11 pm..then i wake up to do my works..then i'll sleep again at 5 am to 7-8 am... its roughly about 5-6 hours of sleep..and the next day i get energatic as compared when i'm sleep for 8-12 hours per day (i did this before)..its making me tired n lazy n blur..somethings like that..

What kind of work do you do in between there? I have to get up and be alert enough to drive my car and go to my place of employment. I work at a mental hospital where I have to be on my toes all the time. They are mean sometimes and will attack you or try to run off. I always wear tennis shoes so I can run if needed. So my work makes my tired by itself.

Yes it happens to me!! But how can you not go on the computer, thats impossible i definately couldnt go to bed without checking things I wouldnt sleep!! I too was staying up on the computer til all hours and it just got too the point where I was making myself ill and with 4 children I cant afford to be ill! So now I set myself a bedtime and make sure i stick to it no matter what happens. You do need to get enough sleep though or else you will make yourself ill and you wont function as well during the day.

Lately I'm usually in bed by midnight. I use to just a few months ago even was able to stay up until 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. on the computer. I don't know what happened that I can't do that anymore, but by around midnight it's all I can do to keep my eyes open.

Your body gets used to it. My eyes start burning after so long. I guess from looking at the computer screen for too long.

Can't nap. Work all day and sometimes all evening too. Got a 4 yr old running circles around me. I am on here after her bedtime b/c I can post w/o interruptions. I don't want to take time out of the time I have to spend with her. I am a single parent, btw.

urrrr...Generally speaking, 7 hours of sleeping is enough for a person, but there might be some exceptions which depend on the habits and jobs one deals with. Take myself as an example, I usually go to bed at approximate midnight and wake up at 7:30 the next day. As to you, I think if you have got used to your own habits you could carry on and ignore others' advice. Only you yourself know what you want and when you want to do certain thing. Am I correct?

you know most people would wish that there are more than 24 hours in a day so we can accomplish the things we want to do. but it's not like that. we have to learn to fit everything we need to accomplish within that 24 hours. i experience this too. most of the time i go to bed at 3am. and waking up at 7am hasn't been a problem with me. during weekends though i try to get myself more sleep than that. like you it's a MUST for me to check my mail and respond to discussions -- it's like a psychological thing for me. i feel that if i don't check my mail for a day -- it would pile up and there'd be more things for me to do. if i get 7 emails from my friend for the day, i just respond to just 4. then i go check mylot and respond to discussions of my interest. i try to make sure that i my maximum responses is only up to 20. i do that again the next day. and during weekends, that's when i get everything cleaned up. no more incoming message in my mail and i just do do mylot to my heart's content.

That is definitely a good plan. I cannot fit everything in all the time. That is mainly due to my job though. I really want to take a leave. Then I could fit more stuff in.

Different people need different amount of time for sufficient sleeping. In my case I always take a sleep whenever I feel tired and sleepy. Normally ten minutes to one hour is enough for me to gain energy back again. My normal bed time is around 1am and wake up at 7am in the morning. In your case it is nice for you to get a rest after sending your kid to the bed. Anyhow you can work more efficiently on your computer later after the short rest.

Ha. What short rest? I go go go all evening with my kid and whatever I need to get done. I try to hop online whenever possible to post on here. Then after she goes to bed, I get on to do more. That is probably why I end up staying on here so long. No interruptions.

My daughter is usually in bed by 8pm and my son by 9 or 9:30pm. I don't normally get to bed until around 11pm or sometimes midnight. I get up at 6:45am. So, I guess I usually get around 7 hours a night.

On nights that I don't get mandated, I like to try to head to bed by 10pm. I have to wash my face and such in the bathroom. Then I read. So I don't actually go to sleep til later. But I am in the bed relaxing.

Usually 11pm on work nights or before if Im tired. I have to be there at 7am so I usually average 6 hrs sleep. I would love to have more sleep. On the weekends I sleep in which is wonderful but it retracts from my PC time. Weekends usually 1am or so. Are you in AR? I noticed your profile said Jonesboro. I'm in Fort Smith if so:)

Nope, IL. I have to be at work at 7am also. Well, we are supposed to be there at 6:45 for shift change. I would love to sleep more. Even on my days off I get up at 7am. That's a few hours longer than normal.

I always try to go to bed by 1030pm but it hardly ever happens lol.. I get online and the next thing I know its midnight or later. I would say to give yourself a few nights a week where you do not go online so you can get a few nights of good rest. I also try to take a nap a few days a week to help me with my lack of sleep.

It sounds like you are a really hard working mom which is really good to see these days...and to answer your questions if you are anything like me you would lay in bed all night and not be able to go to sleep because you would be sitting there wondering what was in your email and what discussions your weren't doing on mylot.com and you really wouldnt be able to sleep! You sound like a responsible adult that has a good head on your shoulders so I would say that you know what you are doing and to just use your own judgement!

That is so funny. And thank you for all the compliments. All I have to say is I try. I'm not the best, but I'm definitely not the worst. I read when I go to bed. I read until my eyes get so heavy they cannot stay open any longer.

I am still a studant so I try to get enough sleep every night. I try and limit myself to 10PM max. These days I have been going to bed at a pretty good time like 9 or 9:20... On weekends though I dont have a bedtime... I go to bed whe I am tired. Especially if there is a party or a friend is over...

I put my son to bed between 8:30 and 9:00 at night, however, on the weekends he stays up much later. If I am really exhaused, I sometimes fall asleep in his bed with him after we read and say prayers. I usually wake up after an hour and end up staying up way too late....after midnight at least. When I was making alot of money online; I was up til 3:00 am every night. If you feel the lack of sleep is hurting you, you may have to force yourself to not even sign on the computer at night. Most adults need 7-8 hours sleep nightly to function optimally. Sleep deprived people end up in as many car accidents as drunks.
