We used to prefer AMD over intel but it seems to me that they're pretty much balanced right now. IN our house we have AMD on some computers and Intel in other. Both can be just as good and it seems to me that now it's just a matter or preference but not much difference in performance.

If you don't overclock, then just buy the best performing CPU at your price point. For overclocking, Intel all the way. Here are couple of good resources that you can use to compare CPUs against one another: http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.html http://www.cpubenchmark.net/ I have used both Intel and AMD CPUs. Currently I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 in my main rig and an AMD Athlon64 3000+ in my secondary computer.

I have been using AMD almost exclusively for the last 12 years. They were better and cheaper. Now that I am getting ready to build a quad core CPU computer, I will probably get an Intel, since that is better for a change than the AMD equivalent. And that's what counts.

I was wandering when someone would ever post this... I have a AMD Processor at the moment, although I really much rather prefer Intel to anything! I got this motherboard and processor for free and its a pretty good one to so I am just using it for now. I havnt had any problems with it yet and its still running smooth.
