Pen or Keyboard?

Sometimes I will write things, like a diary just to get things off my chest. And when Im doing that it doesn't really matter if im on the computer or if I have a notebook with a pen. But if I have to write something important that I really need to concentrate on like some type of essay, or poetry that I want to turn out good, or just whatever, sometimes I concnetrate much better if I actually have a notebook and pen in hand and I have to be sitting in this one particular spot in my room or I cant concentrate very well. What about you? Does it matter as far as concentration weather your on your keyboard or with a pen and paper? Or what about the location where your sitting?

well believe it or not, i actually prefer a pen and notebook for several reasons: 1) its easier to get to (because i am not always at the computer) 2) i can always find a pen or pencil 3) i have a notebook in my purse, its kinda tough to carry a keyboard around! seriously, if it have something long to write, i generally type it, just because i am a fast typer, but if it is just random thoughts, i write them out.

Keyboard or pen doesn't matter to me but I use pen more often to save on electricity.I prefer writing outdoors.

I have a journal and I would love to sit down and write in it, but I cannot do more than ten minutes without the top of my hand and the side near my little finger hurting. You see years back I fell and broke my wrist, and it is too sensitive. I could use on of those wrist things but that would make it impossible to write without knocking something off, so I have to be at the computer. It does, however, make it difficult to write down new ideas when I am in the living room. I do find that ideas flow no matter where they are and usually in the most inconvenient places when I am sleeping or going for a walk.

I think that a keyboard is the winner.. You always know where to find it... Right in front of the computer lol. It looks better for school projects and really helps when you need to make a resume lol.

ya i need a calm location. i feel its better to write whatever i think after going to my bed, take my pen and start writing when everyone is sleeping. SO its easy for me and i feel relaxed. i need no disturbance when i am writing so involved.

I find that i can never find a peice of paper in my house even for a darn grocery list lol!! I find i write fine at the pc, doesn't matter where in a room or house i am, if i have something to write the only thing that messes up my concentration is the noise levels around me. Or if someone is trying to talk to me while i'm writting something important and i just gotta get it out i get mad and frustrated and yella t them to JUST WAIT A DAMMMN MINUTE!! lol.

As much as concentration is concerned with a particular manuscript that needs real work on it, I'd prefer silence and comfort. I'd try to seize a time when sounds seems so less and then find a spot that is quite comfortable. None of that are available at home but I tend to get it at school during break or even during class if the subject really isn't that difficult. ^_^

I'm a keyboard person all the way. If I have a choice between writing and typing - it's always typing. One- because I have sloppy handwriting and sometimes even I can't read my notes later :D Two - because my typing can keep up with my brain better than writing. I do however, resort to pen and paper when I'm out and about (nowhere near a computer) like in the car. I have countless scraps of paper with scribbled poems on them. -Tink

I have terrible handwriting, so for that main reason I usually don't write things with a pen and paper, except for school notes, just because a computer isn't really available in culinary school :). Not only that, but I can type a lot faster that write, and a lot of the time I will rewrite my notes and print them out, simply so they are more legible.

I prefer to type when I'm writing. I don't know why but it just flows better. On the other hand, if I'm reading something, I would rather read it off of a paper instead of the computer screen.

Generally speaking I prefer writing by hand, for everything. Writing notes in classes helps me to retain material, sometimes I'll even copy what I already have written out because it is really easy for me to just read over things and ignore the actual content. It's kind of like 'in one ear and out the other' only with eyes, I suppose. Writing by hand in a journal gives me the opportunity to do it anywhere, because even laptops have limits. True, I'm a big fan of blogging, but I'd much rather just jot down ideas or observations rather than have to wait for a computer to boot up or for a word processing document to open. Due to working at a call center that started out taking messages by hand, I've gotten rather accustomed to writing quickly, so it isn't an issue of my head moving faster than my hands for the most part. (Nor is that the case for typing, courtesy of said call center upgrading itself I'm now a much faster typist than I was previously.] So, basically, to sum that up. Pen & Paper keyboard. As for the setting I'm less specific. As long as there's enough background noise to keep my brain from getting distracted (which might not make sense) I'm good to go.
