Hi. We have 80 mile an hour winds coming tomorrow night in Indiana. We just had a tornado warning here last week and the winds were so strong that it tore up our canopies we had up outside and knocked out my electric for about 3-4 hours. We are supposed to have winds up to 80 miles an hour Tuesday night and I am scared to death. I am afraid we will get a tornado here. We just had a huge tornado 5 miles up the road from me a couple of years ago and it almost completely destroyed a small town here. I will probably not be online tomorrow afternoon or evening because I will seek shelter and the power may be off again too.

I'm expecting that same storm later in the week once it passes you. I can understand how the weather can be very scary, I get the same way. My advice to you is just to stay off the roads and away from all windows. If possible move things near windows down, like lamps off of tables, etc if they are near windows. That way if anything should happen suddenly because of strong winds, you don't have to worry about these items flying around or getting broken or hurting someone. Also remember that it isn't always as bad as they predict it will be so don't psych yourself out just yet. Good luck!

I'm in Northern Alabama so I know exactly how you feel. They usually warn us about what's going in your state so we have a day or two to prepare here when the storms start out towards that way. The weather in this area can be difficult to predict as often times storms will loose their strength at the last minute or turn. It seems that lately the high wind storms have been coming through a lot, the good thing is that they come through quick and don't linger. I hope you'll be safe and are able to not worry.

We get the winds like that over here too. I'm in Washington State. There was a Tornado last month too. Just make sure you're stocked up with batteries, food, water, flashlites, radio, meds, cash, pet food, extra clothes, blankets, cards, dice, etc. before the storm. We also don't let the vehicles get less than half empty, because in one storm our town was without poewer for 3 days. I keep all my stuff in a big tupperware type container so it's always ready.

Yes. I need to go the store later today and pick those things up when my husband gets off from work. He works really close to home, thank God. We try to stay stocked up also but have not done it again recently. I know it will be a priority for me today. Thanks alot for your response and tips. It is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much. I sure hope we are okay. The storms have gotten worse in my area for the last 3 years. We should be getting snow but we have had nothing but tornado warnings instead. I have never been in or seen an actual tornado either but one hit 5 miles up the road from us a couple of years ago and it almost wiped out the small town. It destroyed homes and wooded areas. It layed everything out flat and threw homes and stuff everywhere. I am so scared of that because we live in a manufactured homes and they are not very sturdy like a brick home is and we have no basement.

I understand how you feel but try not to be scared. If it's anything like it is here where you live, often the really bad forecasts don't come all the way true. Just be prepared in every way possible and hope for the best. Make sure you let us know how things are, especially if your power is off for awhile and we won't know for sure how you are. Take care! Thank you very much Annie. The weather has been really weird in Indiana for the last few years. We usually get snow this time of year but instead we have had very severe storms. We had alot of hail damage and we lost some things out in the yard last week from the sotrms. It knocked the power out for 4 hours. We had about 60 mile an hour winds then but we are supposed to get 80 mile an hour winds this evening and severe weather that is very likely to produce tornadoes. I sure hope the forecast is wrong because I will be so scared while sitting in my closet and hearing the whistling winds. We don't have a basement or any other place close to go for shelter. I will try to let you all know how it all goes. Please pray for us.

Hi there. Thanks for asking. We made it but I don't see how. We had 95 mile an hour winds instead of 80. There was even a tornado that touched down in the area. The sirens were going off and we spent about 2 hours in the closet.

Hey there. I have heard alot about it on the news. We had 95 mile an hour winds here instead of 80. Tornadoes did touch down in this area also. We spent 2 hours in the closet. Is everything ok at your home? Did the tree falling do damage? That is so scary. I don't want spring to come if winter is already like this. I couldn't sleep either. My husband kept looking outside until the winds picked up alot and then he finally got in the closet with me, my daughter, the hamster and my doggie.

Everything is fine here, amazingly enough the house was never touched. All of our power lines are underground, so fortunately all is good in that dept.Just a lot of limbs and smaller trees everywhere :\...! Mother nature has a temper but she spared us that night!! I never did make it to the closet, when we heard the roaring it was like in an instant it was gone, I never even seen it,the next morning you could see a small path through the woods where it layed down and uprooted trees like a small landing strip, it is wild!! I left Florida because of the storms, but the ones here are like catagory one hurricanes down there, they're vicious!! I am so glad you, hubby, your daughter and pets are ok.My cat slept in my lap through the whole storm-he never even knew what was happening!! Anyway, have a great day girl!~Heidi

I'm glad everything is okat there. Our electric lines are underground too but we still lose power here sometimes. I would have been so scared to hear the roaring sound. We heard sirens going off and that was scary for me too. You are very lucky that it made a path another direction. Wow. Tornadoes are very common where we live also. We had one touch down five miles up the road a couple of years ago and it destroyed the small town. My dog slept on the floor in my big closet and the hamster ran on his wheel during it all LOL. I hope you have a great day too. ~Steph~

Yes. I know what you mean. sorry it took a while to respond to you. Mylot did not send me an email notification. I often wander why God has us go through some of the things we go through also. It just doesn't seem fair to us alot of times.

Thank you so much for asking about me. I really appreciate it. There were two tornadoes that did touch down close by and there were some fatalities and loss of homes. I am so sorry you are down and out. I have been very depressed recently and totally stressed out from things that happen beyond our control in our daily life. Everything as far as the weather is ok for now but it won't last because we get really bad storms in the spring. Everyone in our town was ok, as far as I know. Thanks alot for your concern.

Thank you. I have never seen an actual tornado wither but I have seen where an actual did come through 5 miles up the road from me. It took out half of the town. It was horrible and sad to see. My family and I were so scared. We stayed in the closet for two hours while the tornado horns were blowing and the winds were very strong.

We stayed up till 2 a.m. in the closet. Sirens were going off and there were tornado warnings. We had 95 mile an hour winds instead of 80. I didn't get much sleep and had to go to the grocery and file taxes the next day. I am scared for spring to get here with the storms we are already having in the wintertime. Thanks for asking about me. I hope all is well with you also.
