I was wondering if any of you stay at home moms do any babysitting and if so what the going rates are. I am interested in doing some occasionaly babysitting and I have no idea what the going rates are. Thanks for all your help!

I watch a little girl once in awhile and charge about $2 an hour. I usually have her about 10 hours a day, 5 days a week, for a week or 2 at a time. I feed her breakfast, lunch, snacks, and if her dad is running late I'll feed her dinner (her dad usually eats with us a couple days a week anyway when she isn't here). I usually ask her dad to bring some snacks, or juice boxes for the kids to share. It's easier than having him bring her lunch and having the kids argue over why she has something different. For this area daycare runs $150+ a week(+meals), but shifts tend to be 10-12 hours a day.

It really depends on where you live. I live in a small rural area and it is pretty cheap around here. My kids have gone to 2 different home babysitters since we moved out here. One charged $50 per week per kid and the other charged $65. Both were for 40 plus hours per week. That does not work out to much per hour, but it is better than sitting home making nothing. Where you are it would probably be a lot more. Hopefully there is someone closer to your area that could give you a better idea.
