How Do I Stop Cats From Coming In My Yard?

I love cats too....We have four of them. They are all inside cats and well taken care of. The problem is this; Our neighbor (a few houses down from us) has cats. They are all outside cats. None of them are fixed, so naturally, they continue to have more cats, year after year. We have ended up taking care of a few of them. We used to feed them because we felt sorry for them. We even ended up taking one of them to the vet a couple of times. The cats seem to love our yard for some reason. They especially love our patio but I'm tired of continually cleaning the cat spray. So I need help. I need to know what to do to keep the cats from coming into our yard. The animal control won't do anything, other than bringing cat traps for us to put out, which I'm not fond of, but will do as a last resort. Can someone tell me what to do?

"Booby trap" your yard. Figure out their favorite paths and arrange for a water balloon (or something similar) to drop on them. If they like to hide in certain areas, put aluminum foil or bubble wrap down in those spots. You could use a recording of dogs barking and set up a speaker in an area where the cats gather and set it up to go off either through a motion detector, or by you when you see them there. Or use an air horn. Eventually, they'll get a clue. But since you've fed them before, it probably won't be easy to make them feel unwelcome.

Your neighbor should be more responsible. I would talk to them. You can not keep outdoors cats if they are not fixed. Aren't there any regulations from city how many pets they can have? I love cats, maybe they can be adopted?
