I am really hungry right now but it is 3:45 and I don't want to eat anything because I don't want to ruin my supper. We have supper around 6pm so it is too close to that time. So I looked in my cupboards and I found I have a can of tomato juice. I thought, ahah that's what I can have. So here I am drinking a glass of tomato juice with a little bit of pepper added and it doing the trick. It is curing that starving feeling in my tummy. So what do you snack on when it is close to supper time and you don't want to eat too much and ruin your supper? Give me some more ideas of what I can have.

Oh I'm always snacking my friend, I am always hungry! Well I've got a big wolfie appetite! I never spoil my dinner, but when I snack I eat fruit! Only after my dinner will I have sweet things, but if I am hungry I will eat an apple, or a pear or a banana and I find that tides me over until my meal, either that or I'll drink plain water to stop the hunger pangs. Fruit also makes you full and it provides you with sugar for energy to keep you going. Works for me.

I've definitely seen some great ideas here. the main thing is to determine if you are actually hungry or if you are feeling appetite pains. You need to be able to tell the difference between the two. If you are on a schedule w/ a family, parents, kids etc. and you are feeling real hunger, then you may want to reassess your overall eating habits throughout the day. Lighter snacking and smaller meals wile staying within your healthy calorie limit can help curb appetite. The watter suggestion for your situation is prime. The watter fills you out and tricks your body into thinking that you are full. Also, plain veggies like carrots and celery will mask your appetite pains, and actually burn more or close to the same amount of calories as they contain. Plain though! I'm not sure if you are trying to watch your wait; we could all use to do so on some level, no? hahaha. Anyways, fruit is not necessarily the way to go, due to the large amount of sugar common to fruit. Save them for your desert. To summarize, water and veggies are a great thing to kick of those appetite pains. Pay attention to hunger and appetite. Maybe iron out a better meal habit throughout the day. Always be careful though. I was too strict w/ all this when I was a teenager and became anorexic. And yes it can happen to men. Not as common as obesity, but we all need to be careful of our 'diet's. Peace.

If I feel hungry in the afternoon, I will take some fruit as the snack. Though after take it , I will eat less in the meal, it is said that taking fruit before meals can make people take in enough Vc while can help lose weight. So I think it is a good way to solve the problem. But from some of my friends, I know take creamy yoghurt can make you feel full, and can help you to keep your bowels healthy.

We keep the little baby carrots in the fridge to snack on. Grab three or four and munch them slowly and for me I am good until supper. Being diabetic I can get pretty shaky between meals sometimes so got to keep something handy but if I snack daily around three or two thirty, then the shakes do not come around.

I would eat a small snack. Fruit, smoothie, salad, whole grains, anything with fiber can help. If it is not too much (under 400 calories) it will not spoil your dinner, rather it will stimulate your appetite! Enjoy!

The juice is a good idea. I sometimes eat a few raw veggies, like maybe a few celery sticks or carrot sticks with some sort of dip. As long as you don't really go overboard with that, that's a good and healthy snack. Also, maybe a small piece of fruit (or even half a piece, like half an apple or orange)is good too.

I am a big snacker...I munch throughout the day. It depends on how hungry I am but I like to snack on trail mix or nuts, a little cereal or baby carrots. If I'm not really hungry, I'll have a big glass of water or some hot tea to fill my stomach and tide me over.

This probably isn't something that would work for everyone, but when I am hungry but don't want to spoil my dinner I will have a glass of low-fat milk. It always does the trick for me. A banana is also something that I will have to hold me over before a meal.

If it is close to supper time I will either just wait it out or have a piece of cheese. Like string cheese or a piece of lunch meat. The protein seems to tide me over until meal time.A glass of chocolate milk sometimes does the trick too.

Hello dear chrislotz. It is really a very good trick to have some tomato juice with a little bit of pepper. Now right in my place, it is 9:38 a.m. As I am still having my vacation, I get up late in the morning and I am going to have porridge for breakfast. By the way, I guess that you are having your supper or have had your supper already. What did you have for supper, my dear friend? Please enjoy.

I "snack", healthily every 2 hours, from after I have my breakfast in the morning, until just before dinner in the evening. I always have dry roasted nuts (not salted), and a piece of fruit or something with me in the day. I find that these really give you that extra kick, they don't ruin a meal, and are full of good stuff =P Not to mention they just taste great. I also have a juice or yoghurt smoothie when I'm at home and want something to tide me over. =)

If its close to dinner or bedtime a half a dozen almonds normally does the trick. And they are good for you.

If I feel hungry at that time,I usually take some fruit. As fruit not only can resolve the problem of hungry, but also can be digested in a few hours,I think it's a better choice.
