I don't think so. It takes real intestinal fortitude to win this type of war. We just can not give up, I know I will never give up.

Does any body ever "win" a war. Its not really a winning kind of situation. Its more can anyone bring the problem to a conclusion. I dont think anyone can do it at this point god knows Bush has shown he can't.

I guess, since I've been to Iraq three times...it certainly seems like we are winning to me. Don't believe the media, we are winning and Bush got us here.

I agree, I woke up one morning and found out that I had missed out on an "insurgent offensive."

Of course during WWII, the soldiers were there for 4 or 5 years straight, but then we had the will to win. Name calling is not helpful Anne, I would probably listen to your argument more if you hadn't call the President a name.

i try not to watch the news too much but it seems impossible not to with all the headlines and the fanfare. i blame the media for blowing this election up to the point that i find unbelievable..but the US should never give into the terrorist or to doing the right thing..but it will all come to a head this fall in NOV..pray for a miracle

I agree with you, but one step further; the world can not give into terrorism.

What war are we speaking of? The false war against terrorism? You can make a terrorist, just ask Bush, he has made more than any politician in history. It is improbable that you can unmake one, time and peace might help there, but time is something we never allow. If you are talking about our illegal manipulation of Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran, then there is no winning, we just keep digging deeper into something we started to begin with. (starting with a shah some time ago where we went in and put him in power and then regretted it.) It is time to bring all the troops home and hope that time will heal the wounds of our invasion and interference with other countries governments. Are you aware of the cost of this war? I have some data on this at http://silvaspoon.blogspot.com/ along with a counter that updates continually as to the cost of this war. It is currently in the 12 digits... when peace is as profitable as war, we might see peace in the world. The entry to this blog that pertains to the cost of the war is a Feb 25th of last year entry entitled economics 101, the counter has been going since then. There is no winning this war.. what might be possible is to fund institutions of peace and arbitration rather than continue to pour money down this toilet. We might even put the Bush regime on trial for their war crimes. This administration has continually broken the laws of this country to push forward this war for the profit of the few. We might even regain some credulity with other nations if we held accountable our own leadership. The patriot act continues to destroy more of our civil liberties. America is the new Roman Empire on a very fast track to decline.

No grounding in reality??? really.. so all that research all my years of study of the political manipulations by the US government, have no grounding in reality.. well.. hello Alice, nice to see you in the looking glass.. lol... Next you will tell me that Medicare and Medical will take care of our nations aging citizens... or that we are beloved in all nations save those we kill... Suggested reading for you here... The Utne Reader out of Canada, The Guaridian out of England, Beijing Review (think you can figure out where that one is out of), the Christian Science Monitor, Le Monde from France, I hesitate to mention the rest since most of the others do not have an English edition that I am aware of. There is also a parallel with the Bush administration, the patriot act and other things that have been happening in this country for several years... they are the same kinds of actions that led to Hitler taking power in Germany... most of the world recognizes this even if most Americans remain blissfully ignorant of it. You might also have a look at my blog mentioned in my first response.. might actually find some facts that you can verify.

You win the award for the most words. Even if they do not have any grounding in reality. Thanks for commenting...I think.

All those are liberal rags. I can not believe that someone who can type so much would actually think that La Monde or the Guardian is anything but biased, but then you might have a lot of time on your hands.

This is a religious war and we are not going to win it. Read your bible.

We might as well take out Iran while you're at it. I'm sure there's a few terrorists over there too. Its not like the world can think any less of us right now or that the economy could get any worse. Hope you're very quick though because this lunacy is about to be over as we finally will have Bush and all his cronies out of the White House. Its not a coincidence Obama got more votes than McCain, Huckabee and Hillary COMBINED today.

perhaps he/she only read the first two sentences. I'm fine with it. Despite the message of never leaving so we never lose 75% of America is tired of Iraq. I don't see how McCain pulls it out singing about bombing Iran and calling for a 100 year war.
