So someone told me that if you eat a lot of strawberries while you're pregnant that your kids will come out with a lot of freckles. I am gulible to a certain extent but was just wondering if anyone else had ever heard this?

I've never heard of that before. I think it's completely silly, though. It's like saying that if you drink a lot of milk, your baby will have pale skin. These are wives tales that are the result of coincidence, such as someone noticing that a baby had a certain characteristic after the mother ate a certain kind of food or did something frequently during her pregnancy. DNA is the only thing that will determine whether your baby has a lot of freckles.

I have heard this too but i don't know if I would believe it...strangley enough my son when he was younger would get a bit of a rash on his face like freckles if he ate too many...i am not sure if that is the same thing or not!

I don't think it will give freckles to the baby if you eat too much strawberries. I believe it's in the genes. Fruits and vegetables are fibrous and they easily get out of our system once they are used. It's best to eat them when you're pregnant and avoid foods that contain msg because it really affects the baby I'm sure.

No, I don't think this is true, but it is a cute one to tell my grandchildren, along with the other stories I tell them!

Please do not take every thing you hear too seriously. These things are myths.

No Jenn. Do you have family that has alot of freckles? Hair color, eye color skin type is all dependent directly on genetics. I have not heard this particular wives tale but it does not surprise me at all. Eat as many strawberries as your pregnant body wants, they are in fact very good for you in so many other ways. Do not worry that they cause skin freckles.

I've not heard of that before, but know for a fact that it's incorret. A baby's features are chosen by it's dna (the information it gets from its parents). So if the baby's dna says it will have freckles it will, if not then it wont.
