We are now living in the world of technology, almost everybody now has a mobile phone, a fax machine, laptop, desktop and the internet has changed a lot of things in our lifestyle and activity. Long before, the mail and post office has always been the key in delivering the important mails from our friends, our love ones. But now, we have the benefits of receiving this messages through our mobile phone, and through the internet. I can no longer recall when was the last time that I have received a mail from my far away friends since that was a long time ago. Can you still recall when was the last mail you received from a friend through the post office? Do not include into account the billings that you received.

Ya you are very true! I have no clues as to which was the last time that i received a letter from my friend. Ya, i did get a courier from one of my friend last year. But that was not a letter... It had some gifts in them ;) In villages out here in India, there are people who still use letters/posts for communicating... but at the same time, i find them over mobile phones these days. LoL Things are changing. :)

Same here in our country. Much of the people are doing the text and emails instead of the usual post office mail.Though there are some in the provinces that still does the good old fashioned way but somehow, this have decreased in numbers since the mobile phones and internet have already reached most of the remote places.

I feel quite sad that modern techology has eroded the personal touch of sending messages. Hand written letters that are usually meaningful and heart felt have been cast aside for the more convenient but cold email and SMS.

Somehow I feel the same. It is sad to note that this is happening. But that is life, and we have to adjust. Just missing the old ways and the feelings of receiving that old mails from friends who often surprise us as we read.

It has been years since i got a mail from a friend through the post office. With the advent of technology, it is easier to communicate with friends and family through the internet, cellphone and other technologies. We tend to use the easiest, fastest and cheapest way to communicate. But i still want to receive mails from friends through the post office. I think it is sweet to receive one from a friend. Just imagine the effort your friend is doing especially if the letter is hand written.

Yes, I do agree with you it is rather sweet to receive mails that are handwritten rather than through the electronic mail. It takes effort and time and that will also tell us that we are indeed special as our friend have given us his precious time in making and sending the mail.

It's been long already. Almost 13 years ago! But it is okay because e-mail is much better. The communication is fast and personal, too. I like it this way.

I see, that was quite a long time. Well you are correct in so far as emails are concern. Its fast, and cheaper also. Though, for memorability, the standard mail, will prevail. I don't know if comes a time when nobody will ever write mails through the post office. But I think they will stay although not as constant as before.

No, I don't actually remember getting a mail through post office for a long time now. I have spoken to my friends only through the phone or theland lines we had then. Mobiles came later. Even now I speak to them, I do not have to send mails at all.

That is most likely the thing that is happening nowadays. In fact most people find the mails impractical considering the advent of technology. Well, life goes on and we have to ride with what is now and accept it. Most especially that it is more convenient.

I have not received a mail from my friends since I graduated from university. It nearly 7 years. We just contact each others by phone, email, MSN, and messages. And sometimes we may go out have lunch or dinner together.

I think we have the same thing. I haven't receive any mails for that a time. My friends get in touch with me mostly on phone, text, emails and messenger. Technology has really changed the way we do things.

65 to 70% of Indian pouplation lives in villages and the only biggest communication is post card or envelope. Now it is slowly being replaced with mobile phones. But there is a greater satisfaction of reading a letter than speaking over the phone.

I see. Same here for my country. During the early 80's most of the people rely on the post office for their postcard and other sort of stuffs. With the advent of the internet and mobile phones, a massive drop on those letter and postcards have been observed. That is why, I sort of missed the set up, as you have said, it is really different when you received a letter, its somewhat better to received such letters and the excitement that goes with it. Well, this is our life today, and I guess,we will adjust to what it is now.

Well, it would be easier now to send emails rather that snail mail. It also has the advantages to be received right away.

The last time I got a letter was on Friday! :) I exchange letters with a group of female friends that I have become very close with over the past year. I really enjoy receiving letters in the mail and I really love sending letters off to my friends because I know how special it makes you feel to get them. The postage rate is going up here in the US again, and a friend of mine hypothesizes that this is the case because not enough people send mail anymore - people tend to send e-mail rather than paper letters and you can even pay your bills electronically now, so not as many people even use stamps to send checks to their electric and phone companies.

Yes, I do agree with you that sending mails are receiving mails the old way is really exciting and the feeling is different. I am glad to know that you have such kind of set up. Well with respect to the rate, I think that is the reason. Naturally they have to raise the rate since few people are sending mails through the usual way as compared before.

Yes I can remember. I got a beautiful Valentines Day card from a sweet friend in Germany a few days ago and one from my parents yesterday. It's a nice surprise to get things like that in the mail from family and friends from time to time.

That is very lucky of you considering the advent of the new technology, people don't often send those anymore. The good thing about this stuff is you can keep them and from time to time read them or put them in your collection. You can cherish the memories and recall the events. Sad to say, I have not received any cards anymore this valentines day. Though I received some mails and a gift but no cards that was sent from the mail.

The only mail I receive from friends anymore is around holidays. I got a few Christmas cards back in December. I think that was the last time I got something in the mail from someone that was not a bill.

This question is very hard... let me see... If you're talking about a letter, i think the last time I receive a mail through a post is when I waS in grade school some 10 years already. But I receive regular post mail from school of my grades. Well, I don't really think it's directly for me. it could be for my parents.
