It's one of Picasso's paintings of a weeping woman. He painted several versions of this subject during the Spanish Civil War when he saw women who had lost sons and husbands. It is not a portrait of a particular woman but of all women who have sufferered. When I first saw it my eyes pricked with tears, I just felt so much empathy, it captures exactly what it feels like to be utterly distraught. What makes it more poignant is the fact that she is wearing a silly little red hat. Her grief makes that hat look ridiculous somehow.

It's a watercolor by Nina Fritz called Feeding the Birds....it's three children on the seashore feeding the sea gulls...in pastels! It's beautiful.

There are two, the first is a painting by my very close friend Su Okeeffe of Glastonbury Tor but the way it was painted it was a fertility picture under the moonlight. The result of this painting was the birth of my son after 16 years of trying for another. The second is a painting by Ann Searle called 'Cat in the Conservatory' it is a beautiful picture of a cat laying on a wicker chair surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers all in pastels. Ellie :D
