My daughter is 2 and we put her to bed at 8:30pm, my friend puts her 3 year old to bed at 7:30. But I feel like 8:30 or 9 is a good time cause we can still go do stuff and she isn't too tired and then me and my hubby have time to spend together. What time do you put your kids to bed?

a clock - bed time
I put my kids to bed at 8pm. By that time my oldest (4 1/2) is tired and ready to go to bed. He goes to prechool so we have to get up and be out the door by 7:15 so I have to get him up at 6:30.

I have 20 month old twins and I was also going to ask this question! I am finding it difficult to get them into a routine as they always seem to do the opposite, but they usually go to bed between 8 and 9pm.

This is a subject that gets discussed a lot ... lol Since every family, every parent , as well as every child, is different and their schedules are also different I always enjoy seeing what other parents have to say about bedtimes. Here we are a little backwards from most people I have seen discuss this. Since I homeschool my boys there isn't any set time we get up in the morning. My oldest (9 yrs old) though will get up about 7:30 no matter what, so his bedtime is the earliest at 8:30-9:00. My middle child (6 yrs old) then goes to bed around 9:00-10:00 depending on how hes acting and such. My youngest (4 yrs old) who still naps most days varies, IF he did NOT get a nap he is normally asleep by 9:30, but if he did take his nap he will stay up with me til about 11:30 or so most nights. He then sleeps til 9 - 10 am, so it isn't like its keeping him from getting enough sleep. I think each parent has to decide for each child what time is best so that the child gets enough sleep. ~Rachel

My 8 year old starts getting ready for bed at 9pm and is usually about 9:30 by the time he is in bed. My one year old basically decided when she is going to go to bed. Most days it is around 7pm, but other days she goes to bed around the time her brother does. It really depends on how long she napped during the day.

If 8:30 works for you and your daughter, then it's the right time. All kids are different, so don't think it's wrong just because your friend puts her child to bed earlier. My son, 17 months, goes to be around 7:30 every night. He wakes up earlier, and keeping him up later doesn't make him sleep later, so we stick with it. Plus he recently transitioned to one nap a day, so by around 7 he's getting pretty tired. It has worked for us for over a year now, but we will make adjustments if and when we feel we need to.

Daughter goes to bed and sleeps all by herself at 9.00 and have to put son to bed forcefully by 9.30. But still he will keep rambling and will sleep only by 10.30 or 11.00.

My 9 year old goes to bed at 7:30 and the oldest two (ages 13 and 15) go to bed at 8:30 and 9:00 pm. I know that sounds early but we live way out in the country and they catch the school bus at 6:20 am so they have to be up by 4:50 am. Since I started the earlier bed times they seem to be doing better and not falling alseep in class.
