If you could get one thing back that was either lost or destroyed

what would it be? Would it be something sentimental, like a family heirloom? Would it be have a monetary value? Think back to your childhood home that might have been destroyed by fire or flood. Or most recently Hurricane Katrina? Were you robbed? What would you want back the most?

Just one?! Geez, that's a tough one. I had a stuffed puppy with floppy ears I'd love to have back. Or the little dog and fiddle figurine my Mom brought me when she drove to Lima, Ohio one day. I didn't know it but she did without lunches that week to pay for it. I think I'd really like to force my sister-in-law to go up to her attic and get the box I left there over 20 years ago when I briefly stayed with them. All kinds of mementos from my family in one little box, all rotting up there in that Arizona heat and she'd never let me go up there while I was living there. Well, I have my memories. They're just things, my memories last forever.

Wow.. its always amazing to learn of those special things soooooo long after they happen. How sweet of your mom to save up that money to buy you something special. YES! Go to your SIL, ask her kindly for those "things" for those things help jog your memories that are collecting dust in your own mental attic. Thank you for your response :)
