Would You Help me Eat This?

Now that we are retired I have more time to bake, and especially to experiment, which for me is a lot more fun than following recipes. Below is a photo of the focaccia I made to go with tonight's dinner. Although I tried to make a small batch, just for the two of us, it is so good that we are having a hard time just eating a few pieces.
As hubby likes to say, please take some of that food off the table or there will be no prisoners! We don't want to over do it, so would you help us eat this food? Our first taste of focaccia was at Skates Restaurant near the Berkeley Marina and that is a hard act to follow. If you put "Skates" and "focaccia" in as search keys on Mr. Google a whole bunch of articles will come up extolling the virtues of the bread at this restaurant.
However, from my point of view the most interesting thing that came up online concerning this restaurant was on their own web site:
http://www.skatesonthebay.com/
Just click on the link at the bottom of their page that reads "360 degree Restaurant Views" -- awesome, it hasn't changed a bit.
Even though we haven't been there in 20 years or so, I can see in the picture exactly where their focaccia was set out to cool when it came out of their ovens.
Do you like to go back and revisit places that you have dined before and enjoyed? Would you get a thrill just from seeing a photo of such a place? Do you have a restaurant you remember fondly and would like to share? Please include a link to the restaurant's web page if it has one!
My kitchen smells so good! We know for sure there will be no leftovers, so if you would like some, please take a slice before it is all gone!

hi drannhh! what kind of bread is focaccia? it looks so delicious. what's in it? i'll definitely help you eat that.^__^
i do go back to restaurants that i've been to before and which food i really liked. in fact, i prefer to eat in restaurants that i'm sure of the taste. even though i'm open on trying other restaurants and new food, i'm not really brave to do it. ^__^;; i don't have any link to the websites of those restaurants. i don't even know if they have a website. ^__^;;
leave something for me drannhh!!

It is basically the same kind of dough used to make bread or even pizza crust, but with lots of olive oil and pressed out flat and topped with herbs and grated hard cheese like parmesan or romano. I will most certainly make a new batch just for you!

If I start with a packaged dough, I know it is not as good as homemade, but I will press ground flax seed meal and wheat germ into the surface, or even whole oatmeal, or oatbran, just to give it more of an "artisan" texture. The herbs you add certainly make it healthier.

I have never eaten focaccia before... so i would gladly help you eat the one you baked... it does look yummy... i don't bake but i love eating cake, bread, pastries, or the like... and if i plan to learn how when i am about to retire... but of course i need to buy an oven first...
There is a certain restaurant in my area called Perfect Loaf... they make delicious cakes and bread... and i remember eating there almost everyday when i was pregnant... but now... i rarely do...
And i must agree with you... you kitches does smell good... almost divine...

I love homemade bread and that looks sooo good. I live in Mississippi but my husband is from California. There is a Chinese restaurant we visited when we were there called Good Friends in Valley Springs, Ca. It had a huge buffet and the food was wonderful.

Yummy. Could that be a place called Good Friends! If so, Yahoo reviewers gave it 5 stars and one called it the best Chinest restaurant in California. Inexpensive and not far from Yosemite. We heard they have a new Mongolian BarBque out that way, too. Sounds wonderful.

oh would I ever! that is beautiful! I am sure I can smell the aroma just looking at the picture. I can see why your husband finds it so irresistible.
there are a couple restaurants that we went to while dating and in our early marriage that I would love to go back to - and would get a thrill looking at pictures from them.

This is very nice discussion. You are so nice to share with us your focaccia. I have never eat it before, but i would like to try it.
And to a restaurants, i don't really have the most favorite one, sicne I like to change them. But i know my husband does. It is greek restaurant in germany and when he was in army he used to go out there a lot. Now after many years he went back there and was surpriced the same restaurnat was still there, with only a little change and all the greek waitress remember him. I am sure it was nice for him to come back to this restaurant after so many years.

Please pass me a slice, it sounds so yummy. I love the 3360 view, although after awhile I got kind of dizzy. I am pleased to hear that hubby thinks your bread is better.

Glad you liked it. I got a little dizzy looking at it, too, and hungry! We are having pizza tonight, which makes me think I should experiment with making this sort of bread from the pre-packaged pizza dough mix and write an article for Triond or somebody. Gotta healthy that stuff up a little, though. Too much salt, white flour, and fake fat for me.

That looks delectable! Save me a slice and send me the recipe.
I like to revisit favorite restaurants but also enjoy finding a new favorite. There is a restaurant I would love to visit, but my husband isn't interested. I will have to drag my sister or dad there instead. :)

Yes I think making up things as going along is really fun! I can cook but I don't really cook that much and not to mention, when I am living here, I don't really have the energy and time to cook. There are certain restaurants I love around here, but they don't have websites so I really can't include anything here. But I do love going back to those restaurants and keep order the stuff that I think they are the best. Well, after my vacation, when I came back, I actually rushed to the restaurants, so you could imagine how much I miss them *laughs*.
