Strange weather season....

United States

I am about over the strange weather season we are having in Florida. It will be hot in the 80's for a few days and then it will be cold in the 60's for a few days. It doesn't seem like it is really even winter here. Normally in winter time we will get cold fronts that last a good week and then we have very mild weather. But this year it seems so different. The weather is also having a big effect on my plants and trees. Alot of my plants and trees start blooming in the spring time, but because of this weird weather we have been having. All my plants and trees have been blooming since early January. I have a loquat tree that is already full of fruit, my crepe myrtle trees(that I trim back in January) are already full of new growth, and my lilies are already blooming. No of this is suppose to happen until April. I really don't like really hot weather or really cold weather. I just wish the weather would be more consistant. Either stay warm or stay cold for more than just a few days. UGH!!!! So what is the weather like where you live? Are you having an unusual season as well?

All the world is experiencing climate change. In southen England there were wild primroses in flower in December. The primrose is a spring flower. Although it is natural to have variations in the weather. We are seeing more strange weather because of global warming.

Yes, over here in Texas, we are having the craziest season, I've seen in a while! It seems like it can't make up it's mind! I myself am ready for spring, fresh flowers, soft warm rain, and green grass and trees!

You have that right! The weather definitly can't make up it's mind. I am with you! I am ready for spring, but at the same time I am not ready for summer. Normally when we have these crazy winters, we end up being extremely hot in the summer time. Of course I have a pool now, so this summer won't be as bad. I will just jump in my pool when it gets too hot.

It's not just in Florida that this strange weather is happening. I've seen it here in Indiana as well. It sure does a number on my sinuses when we have extreme temperature changes. One week it is abnormally warm, and then the next it is extremely cold. We have even had tornados alreadyb this year.

The weather is really weird here in scotland too. It can be really bitterly cold, which is normal for this time of year, then it gets mild and then it'll get cold again, aaargghhh. We also haven't had much snow, so for everybody that doesn't believe in global warming explain that then.

Even though the unusual weather is aggrevating. I guess it is nice to know us Floridians aren't the only ones being effected. I lived in England for 4 years when I was a kid and I know how cold it is suppose to be over there in the winter time. burrrr!!!!

I read or heard somewhere that 90% of conversations begin with weather discussions. I guess it's a guaranteed common ground. When I lived in Florida, I experienced the same annoying weather flucations as you. I think over the years the weather patterns have changed significantly. I remember winter temperatuatures down into the twenties! One year, everyone sprayed water on their tress thinking it would protect them from the hard freeze. It didn't work out well. I remember my kids going around the neighorhood pulling a red wagon behind them. They returned with two icicles that barely fit in the wagon! The weather everywhere is weird. On a Star Gate episode an artifact was stolen from another planet and brought back to Earth. No one knew the artifact controlled the weather and the people on the planet were dying from the extreme weather. Sometimes, when I'm creative, I wonder if maybe somene stole an artifact from Earth, or someone brought back a weather artifact from another planet and that's why our weather is so moody. (I'm goofing around.) Opinions fluctuate about global warming. One day I hear the warming is the culprit and the next day someone refutes is. What's the difference if we all die anyway? Right now, I'm living in Georgia with my daughter-in-law keeping her company while my son is in Iraq. He's in Kuwait, before he goes to Baghad, and when he called me yesterday, he told me it was cold there. The weather here is more stable than New York State and Florida. Right now, the entire week will be in the low seventies to the high sixties. I like the snow and cold weather in New York. According to Weather Underground, it's cold there with a 100% chance of snow tomorrow. Reading that report brings tears to my eyes. How I miss my lovely New York State. I remember trimming crepe myrtles in January also. When they bloom so early in the year I get depressed. I always knew if it warmed up before February, we were in for a very hot summer. The weather flucations mess with my mind. It wants to know, "Are we hot, or are we cold?" All I can tell it is "I don't know."

Thanks for sharing. I am glad that you are able to have some decent weather that is not changing daily. I sure wish it was that way here.
