In the United States Marijuana is a Scheduled 1 Controlled substance. This makes it more dangerous then Cocaine in the eyes of the law, Cocaine is a Scheduled II Controlled Substance.Under Title 21 United States Code: Controlled Substances Act in order to be classified a Schedule I Controlled Substance the following criteria need to be met: (A) The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse. (B) The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States (C) There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision I would like to pose the question does Marijuana really meet these requirements, if so, please explain how marijuana meets each of the requirements.

It depends from what position you view it from I suppose. I imagine there are those who feel that it deserves it and others who feel that it doesn't. My personal opinion is the only one I attach any importance to, and in my opinion Governments and other 'lawmaking bodies' have no business trying to stick their nose in my, or anyone else's for that matter, business. And I will continue to do what I please regardless of any attempts by others to control my behavior.

re-read my statement, what I said is that the decision regarding the health risks, not the decision about if you should smoke it.

Technically speaking I should not even be responding to this post, as I don't care about the question you have posed... no offense intended whatsoever, I think you have done an admirable job of clarification and presentation... it's just that I prefer a broader outlook. I am only here because I was stalking my schizoid friend to see what he was up to. And since I was here... Your question, from my viewpoint, is the wrong question. Your question assumes that the answerer is a bona fide member of a structured society in which he has agreed to play by it's rules. I come from a broader perspective, a perspective from which the question actually becomes "Why do humans get so obsessed with trying to control the behavior of others". And the answer to that question is "Because they have forgotten that they are the creators of their own reality, and have come to a place where they believe that the actions of others can impinge on their own experience without their express invitation." But I do agree with you that, in the arena defined by your terms, that if anybody is going to make a 'ruling' about the potential health hazards of a thing, then it should be the ones who have studied those aspects of that thing. Cheers!
