This is a question for those living in the UK. Tonight I was watching the news about Prince Harry from Afghanistan and when they gave a short interview with Prince Charles he was wearing a green onion in his lapel. Can you people from the UK explain this?

The "onion" was in fact a Leek. Today (March 1st) is St David's Day and St David is the Patron Saint of Wales. Prince Charles formal title is The Prince of Wales and he is also Colonel of the Welsh Guards (Army). So he was wearing his national symbol. Hope that helps.

Sorry, I should have said that the leek is the national symbol of Wales.

Thank you very much. Yes it does help. I wasn't sure if it was a leek or a green onion as we call them here in the USA.
