Do you or anyone else you know use or listen to a police scanner? I have had one for about 20 years now. I can hear most of the police and fire calls when they page for them It is interesting to listen to. Sometimes you actually know the place that they are going to. I just moved to this small town a year and a half ago. One of the first things that I did was to get the police scanner codes for my new town and county. I think that my favorite thing about owning one is weather reports from the people that are experiencing them at the time. I can hear county snow plow workers tell how bad a 'certain' road is or that a sheriff spotted a possible funnel cloud. Does this sort of thing interest you? Do you own a police scanner?

I don't have a scanner. When I was young my grandma had one and she always had it on. I loved to listen to it, I didn't now you could still listen to them. I thought they changed the scanners and regular people couldn't hear what went on anymore. Are the scanners very expensive? I wouldn't mind having one.

Sometimes you can find them on special at Radio Shack. My mom got hers there (not on sale) for under $200.00. Did you listen to Blizzard Bill this evening? BIG snow headed our way again. My scanner will be busy!

Bearcat Scanner - This is sitting in my office for my listening etc.
I've used a scanner for many years as well. But now the signals are going digital and I have to get a scanner that will pick up the digital signal. My scanner is an older model. Photo attatched. I mostly enjoy the ham radio frequencies to listen to. But there is all the service vehicles of various cities and counties that alert me to road conditions etc. Plus it also carries the weather channel to alert me to severe weather etc. I also pick up the airport frequencies listening to the tower and pilots as far as take offs and landing etc. Scanners are very interesting and lots of fun as well. I even have frequencies for NASA during Shuttle flights which is really cool to listen to. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I'll bet the NASA stuff is really cool to listen to. I used to have NASCAR frequencies. but we were always too far away from the tracks. :-(

There is one going here all the time. I do fing it somewhat interesting to hear all the "goings on" in the county. Other times it worries me because I'll hear of an accident on a road I know a family member might be travelling on at that time....then I end up worried until I hear from them.

I have never owned one, but the way you explain it makes me want to get one. I am by nature a very nosy person lol. Listening to a police scanner, especially in my city, could prove to be very interesting, and useful for the weather and traffic reports as well.

Of course I'm listening to my right now, as it is on my computer stand. I listen to mine 24/7. Call me nosy, but I like to know everything that is going on everywhere around me. I have all the PD's, the taxi's, the school busses, insides the jails, ambulances, hospital's, the city, anything you can think of, it is on my scanner lol. I love my scanner. I even take it to work with me most days.
