Is My Life Really This Boring??

I know most people get excited about going on vacation somewhere or getting a new car or house. But my entire family is making fun of me today because I am excited that I bought a new vacume cleaner. I got it out of the box the minute I got home from the store and had to try it out and as I was thrilled to be vacuming a thought crossed my mind, how pathetic is this? I can't believe my life has come down to being excited over a new vcacume. It was like Christmas for me. LOL! Do you get excited when you get new things for the house and can't wait to use them or am I just lowering my standards more and more when it comes to excitement? LOL!

I hope that doesn't happen with this one I had to argue to get a new one because my hubby kept telling me the one that we had(which was over 30 years old mind you) worked just fine. He would tell me that as he was vacuming and there was dust flying all over the place. He'd be like "dust? what dust?" He has a hard time letting things go, can you tell,LOL!

It is funny, the things we get excited over. I am a stay at home mom, and if I get anything new, it seems to be a real treat. I am glad that you are happy with your new vaccuum. Enjoy it and don't worry about what other people think.

no as this is how my wife and i spend a lot of time..our life is full but it is doing the routine and mundane jobs that don't stress us out. We have enough of excitement and need some serenity in our golden years..lol..but I do exercise some and like to go to the library for enlightenment...and videso/newspaper readin,/free internet/ and chatting. so its all good if it don't cost us anyting..maybe some gas money ..have an avrage day..

My dog is afraid of the vacuum too. The cat used to be but now it doesn't bother him as much. It's funny to watch the dog try to get away from it.

by the way i am not getting e-mails from mylot but i am getting messages..this is weird? but I used to love using expensive vacums like RainBow (REX AIR) as it filtered the air through wate and you just dumped the water out..it was an air cleaner too..but these were very expensive.. Kirby? expensive and heavy..but I am glad my wife likes the Sears store Hoover? well I don't use this machine as my dog hates vacumns and so do I! but my wife is a very clean person..one of us has to? well thankx..remember i don't get e-mails now ..sad

I do the same sort of thing.. I can get VERY excited over the smallest things. It's what makes some friends call me a geek. Getting a new vacuum is COOL!!!! When I got my last one I was uber excited as well... couldn't wait to try it out! It really is a fantastic feeling, having a new something that will make your everyday life that little bit easier or more enjoyable. I get extremely excited over scoring great deals on toys and gifts for my sons. I work at buying things for Christmas all year round, and when I find something really cheap that's really cool.. I'm in ecstasy! And I spread the word to anyone and everyone because it excites me so. Like the other week, I found some star wars colouring books at the dollar store. There were 3 left.. .and I have 3 sons all addicted to star wars!! How cool is THAT??? And only a buck each!! WOOHOO!!!

It's SO worth it and amazing to go through the month of December and not have to do much, if any, Christmas shopping.

I certainly do get excited, probably more about things like that than going on holiday! There is just something about a hoover I think, especially if you are updating for a model that does more than your old one did.

Hi dfinster, I'm with you here. I'm a very easy person to please, and anything I bought, big or small, is always a delight to me. I also bought a new vaccuum cleaner yesterday and was real excited to use it right away. I bought a videocam last month and was too impatient to go home and start making some videos of my girls. Isn't our life exciting, lol!

Still happy after all these months! - I love my vacuum cleaner! Still!
You're not alone, dfinster. When I bought my new vacuum last year, I posted a discussion about it called, "I'm in Love!" Only people who have tolerated the sub-par performance of an elderly vacuum for far too long can appreciate how we really feel when the new one comes home!

Oh honey, but your family is picking on you because they love you. Secretly they wish they had your life and your new vaccum cleaner. I got excited over the vaccum sealed storage bags gadget. Now how boring is that? (Not at all.)LOL

I have always been easily excited over simple things like buying new liner for my kitchen drawers and shelves, or buying a new vacuum cleaner or even a new air wick for the house. My family makes fun of me too, but I was doing this when I was working full time and going to college at night and taking care of a baby too. LOL! So, I think it's just that you enjoy the simpler things in life not because you do'nt have a life!!!!

it is okay to get excited about a sweeper. I worked at home depot for awhile as their carpet expeditor...you have no idea how we and every single shopper would be in awe of the dyson! lol. recently we were moving a washer & dryer for a friend...she had a really cool vaccum - it is a kenmore one from sears...kind of like the old fashioned canister types, but so much more sleeker and smaller & pretty darn good too. those would be my two picks for a vaccuum. If getting excited about a vacuum is lame, I might be lame for having those on my wishlists, lol. Would probably be one of the first 100 things I bought if I were to become a millionaire overnight!

That's the same way I am. If I was a millionaire overnight I'd buy some really nice things but I would probably focus on the little things like that.

There is nothing wrong with getting excited about getting a new vacume. I get excited about stuff like that to. I will have to get a new vacume sometime in the not to distant future. I get excited about things like air freshener. I guess that's because I don't get to buy them to often. Most of the time I have to stick to just the basic essentials. I also get excited about anything for the house because that is where I spend most of my time.

Nothing wrong with getting excited over a new vacuum. I just got my a couple of weeks ago and I like it so much I vacuum almost everyday. Something I need to do anywhy with my 2 small kids. Boy do they know how to make a mess of the floors! I got excited last year when I got my carpet cleaner too. I love getting new stuff for the house. It is almost like being a kid and getting a new toy. LOL

I wish I had a nice one when my daughter was younger, like you said they can really make a mess, but now I need it because we have a little zoo with the dog and cat in the house.

I think its great to be excited for a new vacuum. It might seem boring to some but if its important to you then fine. I thinks it shows that your thankful for what you have and its good to be thankful. To a woman a vacuum can be a really big deal especially if your old one wasn't working very good or if you had to do without one for a while. I had to go a few days without mine because it needed a new belt. I was very happy when it got fixed and I could stop crawling around the floor trying to pick up all the crap off the carpet by hand!

you hold on to that feeling and don't let anyone try to deter you, they are the ones that have a problem not you. You can still see the joy in life, and that is important, if it is a vacuum cleaner or a cup of coffee that makes people happy that is the true joy in life.

I guess my life is boring too then as I have been there and done that with items such as a new vacuum cleaner that just aren't exciting to most people. Another couple of items I've gotten excited over was a new washer and dryer and I don't even like to do the laundry! LOL How pathetic is that? :P LOL

No you're not alone. As a house wife I also get thrilled when I got a new appliance and can't wait to use it. It's not that we are shallow, we are just easily pleased. People who pursue happines should envy us who appreciate the simple pleasures of life, LOL!

No you are not lowering your standards. I got really excited last night when my son knocked on mybedroom door and asked me to come out as he had found a big package on our front step. It was a gift sent to us by a lady he corresponds with on the internet. a brand new Sanyo microwave oven state of the art. I was beside myself as our old one had self destructed one fine evening not to far back. It has so many new features on it I will have to read the manuel before I even use it. Its even sort of pretty.

Hi dfinster, what I want to say is how happy you are.You notice the happiness and you treasure it even it is so tiny.Whatever it's a cleaner or anything else,it makes you happy, you find the happiness without much effort, how lucky you are. When I was a little child, one day,I found a rope,I was so excited to run to the lake, expected to get fish with the rope, how funny. But I was extremely happy at that time. I think life is sometimes boring, but you can still find happiness, even it's tiny.

It's not that your life is boring. Once you have a family, your life just changes. When I get money for my birthday (or other holiday) I don't usually buy personal things. I end up in the "As Seen On Tv" or gadget aisle at Wal-Mart. You should've seen me the day I bought the Swivel Sweeper. I was calling family and friends saying "OMG! You have to get one! It's quiet, picks up everything...yada yada yada". I was devastated when the kids broke it but anyway....a lot of people think my life is boring. Due to babysitting issues and my husband's work schedule, I can only work part time (about 10 hours a week), so I'm home most of the time. Everyone says things like "Don't you get bored? I don't know what I would ever do with myself being home that much!". I invite them over to see just how boring it is. Between my husband and I, we have 7 kids between the ages of 16 months and 15 years old. I am NEVER bored! There is always something that needs done, cleaned, fixed, etc. With days like that, noone can blame you for getting excited over a new sweeper or appliance since, chances are, it's something that is going to make your life a little bit easier.

Maybe I'm home too much and that's why I get so excited about this stuff. But your right there's always something to do between my daughter, my part time job and going to school I diefinately don't run out of chores.
