Do you ever go out with your coworkers?

yesterday evening me and my coworkers went out for dinner to the chinese neighbourhood. Organizing the week before became a chaos! (on me, by the way, hahah). Some said 8:30 was way to early, some didn't like chinese food, some claimed to be broke, some promised to come and never showed up, so in the end there were 12 of us in the restaurant. It was fun, and we caught up with a few that resigned months ago and that are currently working somewhere else... I enjoyed it very much. What about you? Do you ever have a drink or dinner with your coworkers?

I only have two co-workers (small business) and we have been known to go out for dinner or hang out in the evenings. It's fun. I also play D&D with the one co-worker and her husband in the group i play with. When I worked with a larger group I still went out for drinks or meals with my co-workers. Its hard not to be friends with the people you see everyday for 8 hours or so a day.

Hi saundyl, I totally agree with you, it's hard not to make friends with people you see more that your own family.

When I was working a lot of us coworkers would go out to the bar for a few drinks, on Fridays. It was always fun because everyone would let loose and just enjoy themselves and not talk about work. Every once in awhile, about ever 3 months, a bunch of us would go out together for dinner. I worked for the same company for 17 years and so did most of my coworkers, so it was good to get together away from work since we all knew each other for a long time. Most of us had spouces and they would meet us there too. We all knew each other and knew a lot about each other's personal lives. There were about 40 of us that seemed to stick together. I haven't seen some of them now for over 5 years but some of them I still see often since we stayed friends after I quit work.

Thank you so much for your response, chrislotz. I stayed friends with some of my ex coworkers too, and we see each other often (3 of us still work in the same office and 2 of them don't anymore)

Yes I do and it is usually my fault. I get these bright ideas and shoot my mouth off and the next thing you know we are out at a bar and staggering home...

It's usually my fault too, haha, why do we do this?? But it's fun all the same. Thank you for sharing, Whywiki.

How is this for a resurrection of an old discussion, hadn't seen any from you so went into profile to see discussions started. In fact usually th only time I go out except when I go out with my children and family is with co-workers and thi is just before Christmas, just before Easter and just before summer breaks so about three timns a year. They are great fun to be with socially as well as at work and we all get on so well too. I am glad those that made it had fun. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie! Well, I had a different job when I started this discussion. We used to go out just before christmas, and whenever one of us got fired or resigned, because it was such an ugly place to work! Now in my new job we don't go out, but we're about to go next week. And besides, it's a much nicer place to work in.
