Has anyone tried to cook with plantains (the unripe form of bananas). I think they taste quite good! Esp if you fry them. Mm. Give it a try. :)

Plantains are a member of the banana family. They are a starchy, low in sugar variety that is cooked before serving as it is unsuitable raw. It is used in many savory dishes somewhat like a potato would be used and is very popular in Western Africa and the Caribbean countries. It is usually fried or baked. I have had them fried before. They are surprisingly good. If they are ripe(black) then they are better for a desert. If they are green they can be used in place of a potato in some dishes.
