I need to uninstall and reinstall internet Exploer 6.0. IE6.0 (or anyother IE) is not in my Add/Remove Programs screen. how do I do it? And then, how do I get online to reinstall it? I don't use any other browser! Yahoo is my email client. I am a novice at this and might have the terminology mixed up so tell me the easy way if you can help! And I don't want to upgrade to 7.0 cause I tried that and had so many problems I went back to 6.0.

you should be able to go to microsoft.com and re-install IE6 without un-installing it first. it'll just overwrite the old one and fix or replace missing files...etc. i've had to do it a couple of times with my IE7. you can also try going to toolsinternet optionsadvancedreset internet explorer but this will take out your toolbars. you have to go to manage add-ons to turn them back on. good luck

I did go there and did a, well, now I forget whati t was called but something about a check to see if it "was all there" kind of thing. Apparently it was as it didnt' change anything. But thanks for mentioning the reset option and manage add=ons. I didn't know what either was about. My problem is that I apparently havea browser called bsalsa.com that some how attached itself to IE and was causing a program not to run correctly. It appreantly is a common "issue", but the only option to remove it is to uninstall/reinstall IE. Thanks for the info.

Well, you're going to have to install another browser or you won't be able to download IE 6.0 Instead of uninstalling IE, maybe you could live with another browser. If you like IE, you could download and install the Avant browser (I have it and Firefox, in addition to IE), which uses the IE engine but is faster. I think you can get it at www.avantbrowser.com Whatever you do, though, I recommend that you have another browser in place and get used to it before you try to uninstall IE.

Thanks for the help. I figured I'd have to do something like that - just made comon sense. But thanks for the suggestions of browsers. I've heard about Fox Fire so I'll probably do that. Any idea when IE is not listed in my Add/Remove programs?

It's not in your Add/Remove Programs list because Microsoft doesn't want you to uninstall it. It's okay to leave it on your computer and just not use it. Whatever new browser you choose (both Avant and Firefox are free), set it as your default browser (usually the first time you use it, it'll ask if you want it to be your default browser). I think you have to have IE on your computer to run Avant, since it uses the IE engine. Firefox is its own beastie and it is good about letting you know about updates. If you really want to remove IE go here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312451 It involves messing with the registry, which is not a good thing to do if you're not sure what you're doing. Good Luck!

Get firefox and/or opera and install them. That way you have another browser, so you are not locked out from going online. Next, try looking at Add/Remove Windows Components, which is found in Add or Remove Programs, but its the third button on the left hand side of that window. It'll have a checkbox and list. Internet Explorer should appear there.

if you ever get in a bind again there are several free forums that have computer experts that will walk you through pretty much any problem. i've used them several times to get out of a few "what do i do now!!!" jams. the ones i usually use are "the elder geek" and "bleepingcomputer" even if you don't have a problem, you can go to these sites and learn a thing or two.

Thanks. I will give them a try. My problem is with many help places is that they are all so knowledgable and smart about it all that they have trouble "talking down" to my level of ignorance!! And I say that in the most nicest way! Wish I was a computer geek! I'd love that!

Well,if you can't find the IE6.0 in your Add/Remove Programs screen,I think, probably because you hadn't install it properly before. If you want to unstall it ,you can search for some specialized unstalling tools through the search engine. There is a good number of them.Or you also can reinstall IE6.0 directly, the new IE will cover the old one completely. But I still advise you not to use IE for it's not our best choice.you can choose Firefox which I have used for a long time. It's also belong to Microsoft just like IE,yet it's more safe and more easy to use!

I did download FF earlier and it solved the problem I was having on a site which cause this issue in the first place! I think I'll just stick to what I have now. Or maybe I'll just do a reinstall and it will reinstall over itself. But thanks so much for the info

hi, you don't uninstall only I.E. 6.0, so you don't found in your Add/Remove Programs. You could only rewrite the last installation, or upgrade your version. The easy way for you is to reinstall the operative system, so you could rewrite I.E. version, if you want you could search a I.E. 6.0 version on Emule download version and reinstall. The first step is delete or uninstall the last installed version, after the program install on your pc the I.E. version. Bye MYRYAM

Be sure to check out Firefox... not fox fire lol... Firefox is almost the same as IE just maybe a little safer to use. It is a great web browser. As for uninstalling IE, I have no idea how to do it. Leave it there... just use firefox instead of I.E.

That seems to be the general concencious. So I just did that - installed foxfire (have I been calling it fire fox? Good grief!) but it solved the problem at hand, so I'll just workt he two browsers. Thanks for responding tho. I appreciate it.

I don't even think you can uninstall IE if you're running Windows.
