I have not been in such a situation till this day, as no one asked me directly any bribe for getting the job, done. But i was fooled indirectly by an driving school trainer, and he collected from me the bribe sum also without my consent, along with the fee to be paid, for giving me driving licence. Actually i passed the driving licence test,in all real qualitative terms. This he revealed to me, when i asked why the receipt for the fees collected from me was on a lesser side, as the portion of it has gone to the officials.

It is sad that others have to bribe others to get things done. I think my country is one with the highest incident of this. I just hate the fact that we need to pay the incompetence of other people. I have not bribed and yes, things can really get really slow without greasing the wheels of bureaucracy, but I wont let them get something from me. I do, though, let them know that their service is bad.

Bribe has been institutionalised in India from lower rung to top dirty politician. They all seem to be living happily because they get enough bribe to live luxuriously. No one is able to stop the corruption. Tell me by being businessman, you think I can run the show without bribing. It is common. The rates are fixed in India.

Hai sai, thank you for giving my response a best response. Do you know that my servant woman had to pay Rs.100/- to a nurse in the local hospital to know whether her daughter has given birth to a male child or female child! This is really abnoxious.

no I have never had to give a bribe to anyone for a service, but this is a great discussion. I have a friend from Iran that says it is common in her country to do that all the time.

Congratulations on passing your driving test. I have never been bribed & it is illegal here in Australia. Although it still happens secretly sometimes. I have heard that in other countries bribery is common place. Is it against the law in your country?

hi saiven! that's a really awful thing to happen! did you report that to concerned officials? corrupt people like that should be punished. i have never been bribed but i did experience something like that. some suspicious people which claim themselves as volunteer traffic enforcers caught us and told us we were jaywalking. me along with some other friends made us pay a bit sum of money and we couldn't do anything but pay because they threaten us that they will bring us to the police station. we tried to run for it but there was a big scary guy on our way.

No, I haven't. Corruption is very low in my country. You can get into trouble for bribery.

Bribing is quite common here in our country. Bribery issues are evident from a commoner to our president and I, myself is not an exception. I had the same experience, but I was aware that I bribed the officials in the licensing center that's why I easily got my driver's license without breaking a sweat. I know it's wrong, but there isn't any other way because if I don't bribe, it would take me weeks or even months before getting my license.
