I just cannot fathom how this is possible: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/03/13/woman.in.bathroom.ap/index.html Do you think this person was scared or nuts? Why didn't the guy go for help earlier?

I read yesterday, they police want to press charges against the boyfriend for not helping her. He claims she had a phobia about leaving the bathroom. I kind of belive him, I mean why on earth would a "normal" person just sit on the toilet for 2 years? The woman needs help.

Hi. CRiley27. I agree, this woman does need some help. The boyfriend should have at least gotten her some help whether she liked it or not.

1. Eating in the bathroom is just gross but living in there? 2. He had to have some type of satisfaction knowing that she was completely dependent on him. 3. I haven't been in many mobile homes but I can't imagine the bathroom being all that large, in a way she could have felt safe but after two years, oh god, that is just way too confining to even imagine.

I think anyone who won't leave a room like that for that long has a mental disease or problem of some kind... so yes I'd say nuts. I think at first, when she was still walking around, being active, eating, and changing clothes, he couldn't call b/c what is he going to say "my girlfriend is living in the bathroom?" However the second she decided to stop being active and sit still for more than 1 day, that's when he should have called. 1 day is too long to sit on the toilet seat! For her to get stuck like that, she had to be seated for many days. He acts like one day she just stopped being active and sat still, but we know that wouldn't happen in one day. I think he didn't go for help b/c he thought he was protecting her or something by letting her stay in the bathroom. All I know is my husband would be dragging me out of there after a few hours, let alone 2 years!

Odd...very, very odd! I would guess he didn't go for help sooner because when a loved one goes down hill but you are there everyday watching it doesn't seem as bad to you as it would to the outside world. He saw the slow progression, all we see is a woman stuck to a toilet seat.

Hi. groomtobe23. The page was not found under this link. I do find this a bit odd for a man to never get up off the toilet seat. How in the world could he just live like this? I am sure that he needed to eat and to wash off. How can he sit up and still be in the same position and spot everyday without moving? This is just impossible! If he wasn't paralyzed, then how could he have managed to do something like this for two whole years?
