Has anybody been using HDR software or plugins?

I've started doing some HDR work and I'm trying to decide whether to spring for a copy of Photoshop and use plugins or try something else. Opinions? Experience?

I've experimented a bit with HDR using Photoshop CS2. However, I've heard that PhotoMatrix is the best for HDR. I don't know much about it, that is just what I've had a lot of people recommend to me! It might be worth checking out if you're serious about HDR.

Actually PhotoMatrix is what I have used as a stand alone app on WinXP. It has been very easy to use and quite tweakable. Are you using the HDR that is part of PhotoShop or one of the other plug-ins? PhotoMatrix is also available as a plug-in for PhotoShop, I guess I was wondering what I would gain by using PS rather than some free/shareware editor.

I've been using the HDR that is part of Photoshop. I don't know if the PhotoMatrix program is better as a stand alone or as a Photoshop plug-in! Sorry! But you should be pretty well off if you're using PhotoMatrix!

What other parts of Photoshop do you use the most? I've been using GraphicConverter on my Mac for years, and now I either need to update my OS, move to something on my PC, or pony up the bucks for Photoshop. BTW, I really love the lighthouse and "bdflowers" from your website. Nice stuff you have there.

In my humble opinion, the best way to make a beautiful HDR is to start up in Photomatix, and then continue in photoshop... That way you have more control over the image. check out my gallery for an example (it's a HDR i made yesterday) take care!
