Are stick insects the dullest pets ever?

A school friend of my son's has asked us to look after his stick insects for a few days. We don't, I mean it's not like they need allot of care. But really, what is the point of keeping stick insects? You can't pet them, you can't cuddle them, and they don't even do very much. So, are they the most boring pets you've come across or is there something even duller?

I ink they are dull too. But I know people that are fascinated with them. If nothing else they may teach children to care for something

Yes, there's that. I personally feel that a child will feel more motivated to care for something with a little more personality myself though. But i suppose stick insects are an option if you really can't squeeze in more than a ... erm ... well, a stick!

You could have clams that you do not even see because they bury themselves in the bottom of the tank. There are many other night time animals that you will not even see. At least with a stick insect you can see it and hold it and watch it. They are not dangerous like a centipede is so a centipede is not a good pet. A millipede could be a good pet because you can handle them but they like to hid a lot so you might not see them too much.

Good points. Now I can be thankful that we weren't asked to look after clams!

Exactly! It's not like you can cuddle them or anything, take them for walks, or really interact with them in any way.
