Tomorrow (Sunday).... get this. I have to be up at 4.00am, so that I can be on time for this Marshalling I have to do for my daughters swimming club. There is a big Triathalon competition on, run by some important sponsor. Our swimming club won the contract to supply 40 marshalls. I did this last year too. I hated it. I had to stand around in 39 degree temperatures, waving a flag for hours. It will be the same tomorrow. The temperature is expected to be 39 (103F). But we do raise a lot of money for the club. Have you ever had to paticipate in an event you really dont like? Have you needed to get up very early on a Sunday?

I used to back when I was in high school for sporting events I was part of, and I hated it myself. No one likes to get up so early do do something that could be done later in the day. But at least you are taking time out to do this for your daughter and for the club. Just remember, time goes by fast, so before you know it, it will be done with.

I am sure you know all the cooling tricks, but please practice them. I guess that is why you start so early, to miss some of the heat?

I certainly hope the time will go fast. I am also hoping that my spot for marshalling will be in the shade.

I had to get up early for Girl Scout Cookies Booths. It was hard on my body, as I'm not a morning person. Its one thing I'm glad is over. A lot of money was made for the troop, but we really worked hard to earn it.

One wouldn't think that girl scouts cookie booths would be so early, but I guess you had a long way to travel, plus setting it up.

I get up early from time to time to take clients to Special Olympics competitions. Not my favorite thing to do. The basketball was not too bad.I did not go to state competition. I went to a regional. It was indoors. Track and Field in the summer was blistering. Temps like you are having. We did have shaded areas, under the grandstands, but we had to escort clients all over the University campus.

Speaking of Special Olympics, our swimmers in this catergory are always included in SwimSa competitions, both local & State. In particular, one of the series of meets Bianca attends, there are a number of swimmers. One of them is amazing. A teenage boy, the same age as Bianca (14), he lost both his arms when he was two years (bitten off by a lion. He does a kind of crawl, using the power of his legs & he is truly amazing. He will be in the Beijing Olympics this year.
