Well this morning the cat has earned his place! He killed two mice this morning and my little sister was a witness to the second episode. I could not quite contain my laughter when she started crying 'he's a murderer!'. We tried to explain that is what cats are supposed to do to mice and she would have none of it. Poor thing was so upset but it was one of those moments that only a six year old could have. :) She felt so bad for those mice! Anyone else have good mousing stories?

I had a cat, who used to show his appreciation of me by catching mice and bringing them to me as presents, he would stroll in and look at me and then place his catch lovingly at my feet. I do not think he could understand why I used to get so upset. He was great for keeping the rats away though, the house we live in now has just recently started having a rat problem, and all the neighbours would keep telling me about the rats that kept coming in their garden. I used to say I have not had a single one. A few weeks ago my cat went missing, we do not know what has happened to him, but I do know that since he has been gone, I now know what my neighbours were on about, as we have had loads of rats coming in the garden. I think that eventually I may have to consider getting another cat to tackle this problem.

Poor little sister she was at that sweet innocent age and I guess to her the cat did seem like a murderer. I do not have any good mousing stories but I have a cockroach story. I used to work in our local library and one day I saw this huge cockroach lumbering across the carpet.I had some cleaning rags in my hand and I thought oh myI have to get rid of that thing before we open and a patron sees that. ugh. So I just reached down and grabbed the roach in my big wad of rags and the head research librarian demanded to see what I had picked up she insisted so I showed her the now deceased giant roach and for a woman of her age she had the loudest scream I had ever heard. I was then in my fifties she in her seventies and I guess I scared the bejabbers out of her. So I hurried to do what she screamed. get rid of that thing at once. I learned to just leave well enough alone the nest time and let someone else do the dirty work.
