hi how many of you MYLotters are of irish descent and how many just for St Pat day? I was always one to celebrate St Pattricks day even thoughI did not think I had any Irish blood but two years ago I traced my Clark side back to my gr gr grandfather Thomas Clark who was born in Derry Ireland and migrated as an adult to Kentucky where he and his wife Nancy Fitzpatrick raised seven children. Also I found that Thomas Clark's father Andrew Clark stayed in Ireland and that his first name in Gaelic was Andrelier. So now I am asking how many of you are also Irish and how many just like being Irish for one day? I also found that on my moms Richey side way back the Richeys also came from Ireland.

Ah, and a happy Saint Patrick's Day to you too, lassie. I have a wee bit o de Irish in me blood - but not enough! Being Irish seems to be the hot ticket these days - everyone and his grandpa want to lay claim to the heritage. Ironic when you consider how they were persecuted during the first years of their immigration... likely more to do with their catholicity than anything else.

yes they were indeed. The odd thing is I always thought my clark side came from englandbut found out that my gr gr grandfather came from Derry Ireland.I have never been to Ireland but would love to go. My gr gr gr grandfather was Andrew Clark who never left Ireland and am told the gaelic spelling was Andweiler.

I do have Irish in my background, on my mom's side, but as it is the not the majority of my ancestry I'm not familiar with any of the specifics. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Hope you didn't get pinched.
