I don't think cellphone numbers are shared. It could be that one number is replaced by another that's why someone called you up mistakingly. I think it's just an error on the dialer. I've had this kind of experience, too, mostly it's just a case of a wrong dialed number.

yes, it could be a system glitch. It's best to contact your telecom company. Let us know what happens ;)

wow! that is amazing, i have not experienced that.. could be he just pressed the wrong number close to yours? did you ask her to repeat the number she is calling? well, i have not received any call looking for another person, mostly just SMS (wrong sent) to me looking for someone and then will keep on sending my some messages, etc. - i think they aren't really looking for another person they personally know, they are just looking for "textmates" so anyone who calls me and is not in my phonebook - i totally ignore.

I honestly think that that caller dialled a wrong number. Maybe what he/she said is different from the actual number he/she dialed. Try to call your number from another cell phone or any other phone and see if it rings or not. I am pretty sure 100 percent of the time if you hear a ringing tone on the handset then your phone will ring too. Try it until you are convince that you and only you uses that number.

I know me and my boyfriends phone numbers are similiar apart from the last four digits. I have had some people ring me asking for someone else but not that often, I put it down to them mis-dialling!! Its madness!!!

Cellphones cant share the same number, but with cancellations, and terminated numbers they get thrown back into the pool of numbers so if it is a new number then it could have been someone elses before yours.
