Why can I bugger about but I cannot be G A Y

I have discovered that it is perfectly acceptable for me to use the term bugger on myLot, but if I want to describe my self as in a merry, colourful and happy frame of mind I cannot describe myself as G A Y. Does anybody know why? G A Y is a word that I use a lot, and actually prefer not to use it exclusively to describe homosexuals. Are there other inconsistencies on here?

No doubt I shall be gaily damned to Hell. I cannot work this thing out at all. I don't have the same problems as others. In fact I am misunderstood, shall I tell you about it.....

I see you were quick to pick up the inconsistencies of my comment when compared to what you were asking in your post. You are one smart gay cookie.

It has something to do with the adult content filter. I have mine set so that I can post and view adult content so I am able to say g@y...I spelled it like that so it wouldn't be blocked for you! The other inconsistency I know of involves the word bre@st. Even if it is referring to bre@stfeeding or a chicken bre@st sandwich it will be blocked by the filter if your setting are that way.

I believe myLot was developed by Americans who don't speak English like wot we do. They apparently don't think bugger is a bad word but g@y is possibly offensive or something. I don't know why, the homosexuals I know don't mind the word. We also can not say the name of what our American friends call meatballs because it is again another derogatory term for homosexuals in America. I don't think much thought has been put into this sort of thing. We can say the very offensive "f" word I think - but I won't because I don't like it - because it's not that bad to Americans but we can't say f@ggot or f@g because they are offensive even though they are perfectly acceptable words to us in the UK with perfectly reasonable meanings. I think that would make sense as the explanation anyway, basically the words we are not allowed are based on those of the myLot creators (and some other websites.)

I couldn't tell you where the filter thingamy is. You at least have the excuse that you are too old to understand! I am on so many different siotes which I have no idea how to use. I don't know how the content filter works anyway or even if it works.

That's pretty much my understanding too. What is weird is that some people can get words through that I cannot. Apparently it's something to do with the Mature Content filter; but I don't know where that is. Basically all that I can do on myLot is type (badly). I don't understand half of the gizmos etc. I get told ocasionally, but none of these things seem to work with my browser, and I'm not buying a Windows pc just to come on here with. Sad isn't it?

In my opinion myLot has filters that filter out certain words that may be offensive to many people, I do not know who put these word in their filter but it is not completely doing the job. In the United States of America we have words that are offensive to other United States citizens and other English speaking people but to non English speaking people it is alright. But conversely in other countries there are words that are vulgar in their language but mean nothing to the people that speak English. There might be a time in the future when myLot put more words in their filter or maybe even take some out. I think that if you are set to have mature content then these filters should not filter out these words.

I am sure that you are correct. However, I cannot even find the mature content filter so I am doomed.

Retarded...people use that one to describe a dumb move on here quite a bit. But they aren't retarded. Then they get peeved if I ask. I can't win!
