I just watched a report on the CBS Sunday Morning show about the progress that is being made in regenerative medicine. I had heard of the concept but had no idea they had come so far with the technology. The report cited examples of cases where this technique of regrowing something like the tip of a finger; replacing skin that has been burned with new skin; and even growing tissue and partial organs from the cells in the lab. I find this all very exciting. What about you? Do you think it is possible that we will see replacement organs and limbs become an everyday event in our lifetime? This technology has tremendous potential in light of all the soldiers who have lost limbs in the Iraqi War.

I was a little skeptical, but so interested I went to the CBs website and read the article on there. Now I'm totally amazed. They stated the possibility for treating cancer and are on the verge of treating esophogeal cancer - wow. I think we will see some amazing things ahead, even in our lifetime... ....whit

It is indeed a wonderful concept, whittby, and I hope to see the fruits of the researcher's labor in my lifetime.

You have to admit, weemam, that the prospect is very exciting. It could bring happiness to so many people who would otherwise have no hope.

I don't necessarily know if it will happen widespread in my lifetime but I feel certain it will happen in my son's and my grandson will be thinking it is all normal stuff.

I saw a program last night as I was myLotting. How amazing is this? It is happening NOW! And it's such a simple premis too. Our cells are programmed to create more of the same cells.....of course they are, our cells are regenerating all the time. That chappy who lost his finger and applied the powder and his skin, bones, blood vessels - everything had grown back within 4 weeks...simply astonishing. And that tube that can be placed over a dysfunctional, cancerous esophagus and grow new tissue to replace the old....that's phenominal. Some people have amazing brains and wonderful skills.
