Putting your life on hold for how long?

when you call someone and they answer and immediately put you on hold how long do you usually wait? Do you sit there until your arm goes to sleep and your ears hurt from elevator music and you wonder what the heck is going on? or do you hang up after so many minutes?

If it is something rather important, like the Doctors office, a place that I really need to talk to, I may wait for 10 minutes, other than that 2-5 minutes.

Now I am talking about things like doctors offices, service centers. Now there are those who have this automated thing that tells you about how long you can expect to wait, if it says the wait time is better than 15 mins then I usually don't hold, unless I really need to talk to someone there.

I wish they had that automatedd thing here where I live. once Icalled social security and was told I had a wait of forty five minutes so I got online and managed to get what I needed that way.

Five to ten minutes is the longest I will hold. Thats just rude to put someone on hold any longer than that.

I will wait 5 minutes and then I hang up as I find it so rude that they make People wait that long also it is costing us money I am not prepared to waste my Money by being put on hold because they can not be asked And that is a fact as I know someone who worked in a call centre and she says they sit there and have a break and that is why you are on hold most of the time

For a friend I'll just wait a few minutes because if they have already answered they know who is calling and can call me back. Important business call max 5 minues. Not important I just call back.

I have to be more firm with myself as my time is as valuable as anyone else's .

Even though the delay is most likely unavoidable, my patience isn't that long, so I'd give it a few minutes and hang up...unless I'm calling my insurance company or other business and I don't want to start the wait over again. I have a speaker phone, Hatley. It's really come in handy for long waits.

If it had to do with a shut off notice for something, then I would hang onto that phone for dear life...If it is anything else...I hang up and call them back....I am not a phone person...I could live without one..

i usually hate if my call is put on hold .. i usually wait for a min and then will immediately cut the call. exceptions being if that's an important call or if i have any work that i should wait to talk to the other person.

what irks me is to have them pick up and then immediately ;put you on hold specially if its about a doctor's appointment or a call to my insurance thatmust be taken care of immediately
