What if Satan is actually God, and God is actually Satan?

OK i dont really believe this because i dont believe in a God, or a Satan. Or at the least i dont believe they are seperate beings. But my question is what if we got it backwards adn we are surving the wrong "god" and hes actually the evil one. then Satan is actually the good one. It could be possible look at all the killings in Gods name. Then a lot of "sins" are things that come naturally and give us the freedom of being natural but in Gods eyes they are a sin. So what if it was backwards? Just a thought, like i said i dont believe in two seperate beings if there even is a "being"

satan lucifer and all his other names refer to one being the "devil" and well "God" is used for a good positive being in all religions

Satan The Devil used to be Lucifer, who was originally created perfect. That angel made the devil out of himself. Yeah there is One True God forever and ever. Via, St. Michael The Archangel, the Evil One was knocked out of Heaven by God's power. We pray that by God's power St. Michael bound Satan in the lowest and deepest depth of Hell forever. So in Jesus in the Spirit we will become converted as new creation. So in us and Mary, God wins. Of course, I am a Catholic.

Ultimately, it's semantics. Whatever you worship as a positive is positive no matter what you call it. People aren't going to change what they want in a religion because of what someone else believes about their definitions. The followers of God that are doing the evil you speak of, are wanting a God that lets them do that. This God of theirs is as good as the people who created it. (Oooo, that's controversial, right there!)

There is that possibility. I would wonder what this would do for religious teachings and "morality". I realize morality isn't from religion only, but the question still stands. If God teaches love, kindess, compassion, hardwork (just throwing out things here)... and if God is actually Satan... wouldn't the teachings actually be things humans should avoid? Shouldn't people be doing the exact opposite of what is said in holy scripture? Instead of loving your family, your neighbors, instead of practicing "good", people would practice "evil". Could you all imagine a situation like this? Even if this inverted view of religion was moderated... there may still be those who would follow it, and others who would simply do the exact opposite out of fear of "Satan" and the Inferno. Also note that religion has been used in the past to control the masses and has been subject to human revisions (which can still be questioned in terms of validity). It could be reasoned that the deities are reversed but in order to keep society stable, the commandments, laws, codes are still as they were. But again... the truth still isn't known and still left to questioning by the people. Instead of love, there is hatred. Instead of peace, there is war. Instead of cherishing others, there is only focus on the self. Hmm... sounds rather familiar... Perhaps humanity has followed the wrong path for thousands of years either by choice or involunarily. And again with humanity, there is the perversion of religion for selfish means or to accomplish some other end (but I've seen some relate this to false God or zealotry). It can also be possible that both deities exist but neither is evil. The only evil that can be proven is the evil deeds of humanity across time. Thanks for the thought exercise Liber.

I love it almost the exact answer i was looking for, there is a lot in the old testement that could make it seem that they flipfloped in the New testment. like Lucifer means light bringer and in the New testment they call Jesus the bringer of light. that one always made me wonder. But yea this is what i mean, you missed some points though God is also Jeoulus but tells us its wrong to be jeoulus, god is vengful, but tells us not to kill, god is judgmental but tells us not to be. So the natural things like these I think are actually not supposed to be looked at badly but as a part of us. I lean more towards them being one neither evil or good but a mixture of both to keep a balance. No matter how much we hate evil things it seems we need them sometimes to survive. thanks for the best responce

I wouldn't be surprised Lancingboy. There's also another response to a different discussion where I describe and advocate for atheism (though not as long as this response). Then there was a discussion I hosted where I questioned "Heaven". I believe a few members reading (not responding) may have picked up a "non-christian" impression of me.

Well as they say in the bible that satan or lucifer is the greatest lier and deceiver that there is ,so i imagine that if it were true that we were tricked into serving the wrong God , then the right God would forgive us anyway.. ..

Satan name WAS lucifer because he was once the angel of light. He was a "good guy" sorta speak until he switched things up and tried to be like God. He wanted to be worshipped and was cast into the lake of fire and his name became Satan. So him being the bright light or whatever, although true; it has changed. Satan had an angelic voice but he wanted to be praised and worshipped like God. God is the only way...but I'm no judge. The bible teaches us NOT to judge and the bible also says "let the one that has no sin cast the first stone..." we're all sinners. It's between the person and God. Peace 'n Love!

Very good question and one that deserves lateral thinking. Humans are definitely subject to a darkside, and as I commented to theprogamers post, without the dark side we could not know the light. Effectively that makes Satan an employee of the Head honcho, Almighty Divine Spiritual One - God if you will. Or he is the dark side of the light - that which is one being which is God. Satan gets allot of bad press, there's no doubt and the human lesson is not to get caught in the games of Arhiman. Ahriman is by the way known as the Prince of Darkness. Religious preachers, priests etc., talk about the Underworlds, the Dragon, the Serpent as that which is a 'no go zone.' Yet it is by going to the depths of ourselves that we will reach the heights of ourselves. The test is not to get caught in the darkside. Doesn't mean we don't go there. In fact I'd debate we as a human species already have a large part of our foot in the underworlds and are in denial. We are puppets and Arhiman is the puppeteer and most people have no consciousness of it. I believe we are both God and Arhiman in one, we have choice and our lesson is to find the God inside us, while navigating our way among all that is a temptation of our senses and the decisions of our silly minds. Owning your darkside and putting light into it is what is required to reunite with ourselves. You cannot have dark if you turn a light on.

Another Best Responce, but already given sorry LOL. I like this and i have always thought we are all gods and part of god, both light and dark, yes we all know in our hearts and minds what we should and shouldnt do, and we all also know in our hearts and minds how to live life, we dont need a book to guide us b/c we will become misguided like now. thanks for your responce

I do believe God exists. the universe may start from one single element but this element won't just pop out of nowhere if nobody creates it. The thing is not all of God's creations end up serving the very purpose they are created. Just like we create machines to produce good parts and somewhere down the line some of these parts are defects. Some of these parts may be repairable, some have to be dumped in garbage. When it comes to right or wrong, I believe we were born with this knowledge. What happens is different upbringing, life experiences etc have shaped our thought and consciousness to a certain degree different from others. This is how difference of opinions and perceptions arise. For example we know killing is wrong, but some agree that it is necessary to defend themselves while others will never take other person's life and the rest actually makes a living out of it. If what you think or believe is wrong, something will happen that will make you change it. Some people find out by keeping an open mind and try to put themselves in someone else's shoes, others listen to their heart - whichever way you choose, you will eventually know the answer of this very question you asked.

Thanks for your wonderful responce, even though I am one that doesnt believe in god, you seem to have a very open point of veiw, i like that, i really believe the same way you do except for the fact that i dont believe in god. I always keep an open mind, read and study, and follow my heart and mind. this question right here was just a make you think question, because there are some stuff in the bible that mixes things up, like its not right to kill, but then god tells people to go kill, and some of the things that are supposed to be sinful, but are actually natural to humans.

I don't know where do you get those ideas, guys,,, But just to discuss your idea,,, supposing that we are worshiping the wrong God which means that there are other Gods!!! Where are they??? Why never sent us prophets??? Why don't they try to get back there throne??? Why don't they try to get us back to the right path???? Simply because we are on the right path,,, One God and always existed and Satan is just a creature of different nature that has the evil as its path,,,

Have you not read about the sons of God? Okay depending on how correctly your bible is translated read psalms 82 in conjunction with gen 6, and then tell me there are not other gods. You can beleive that there are other gods and still be a monothiest becouse thes other gods were created by God, the only son of God not created was the co-creater of the universe who is the unique Son of God that is the eccence of the Creator. The othe sons and gods were created., also read after the tower of bable and the devisions of the nations. and of course Job. There are amny gods but one is God the most high, the God of Isriel.

Okay the word Satan in the old testament is an office title meaning advasary, you read about him in Job, The sons of God fave come to present themselves before God and Satan (the advasary) comes with them. His role here is not evil per say, he is in the role of prossicuter, bringing accusations and charges against man kind to God. It is in the new testament that satan is now connected to the "shinnig one", the "serpent" and the "devel" (little god)

cant you see they are both God.satan is god of all evil and God the father is the great creator.they were even in the same side before until satan or lucifer started to get greedy on power.which i think started the idea for God to create man to prove to lucifer that he is far more superior than him.cant you see the real truth that man is just an experiment of more superior beings from other planet.the alin being is God.

LOL you are so close to knowing the truth that it hurts! Even Christians (which I am one) don't even know the full truth of this one. Okay I will tell you this, I know it will not make a difference to you one way or another, at least not right now, But... The one thing Christians don't get or even know about is the the name most often used for God is Elohim, a masculen plural. Although when this name is ued for the god of isriel it is used with a singular verb. Like the english word fish. It can be plural or singuler depending on how you use it. The bible talks of other Elohim and the Sons of Elohim, And then the SON of Elohim, But beside the unique Son of God there is another that is spicificly mentioned a few places, His name is Helel,or Helel ben-Shakar and means "the Shinnig One", or son of the dawn. He fell befor the creation of man, and refused to bow befor man. Now I'll let you in on a secret. Every body knows the verse about the garden and the serpent right? okay, let me ask you one thing, Why didn't Eve jump out of her skin when the 'serpent' spoke to her? Remeber the name I mentioned befor? Okay Helel was a 'nachash' this hebrew word again can be translated as a noun, serpent, But.... in Isaiah and Ezeckiel retales the same story without a serpent. The word can have three other meanings in hebrew. and in perticular can be a substantive particle rather than a noun, and thus can be translated as "the shinning one", So satan (wich is not a noun in the old tesament, meaning the advasary) Is a God, or more persise a son of God, and after the flood when many of the sons of God did things that were forbideb for them to do, the nations were devided at Bable into 70 nations and were also divided among the "sons of God" to rule over for the disobidience of man, except for Isriel, which was for ha-Elohim (the God) So your point of veiw is very near correct depending on the God that you willingly or unwillingly serve. ROFL!!!

you forgot about the meaning of Lucifer wich means The bringer of light, and in later on they call Jesus the bringer of light, so they just called them both the same name. there are a lot of differant meanings and ways the heberw version of the bible can be translated
29 Apr 08
Actualy the name Lucifer is the latin form of the name helel, it is the same verse I speak of. Jesus is not called the "bringer of light" he is the Light. there are many plays on words in Hebrew and even in the Aramaic, and many things are writen twice in diferent ways to mean the same thing. as in Job about the "morning stars" and the "sons of God" they are the same thing. Jesus is also caleed The Morning Star, definate article, as compaired to Lucifer or Helel as "son of the Morning Star" Jesus is the unique Son of gos as others were only sons of god, Jesus was the co-creater along with God expressed as God and son in unity together. Lucifer is a son of God and a god of this world.

i am not a religious person though i was baptised a catholic.i dont go to church and i dont pray too often.but i sincerely believe in GOD the father in heaven and i never, not for a second doubted His identity.and i know why, its because of my faith in Him.for me,its better to believe that somebody's got your back than to feel alone and helpless. besides, what if Satan is tricking your mind right now to think of this question that you have asked? sometimes, when nobody is guiding us,we think and do things without knowing if its right or wrong. So sins like stealing, killing, lying, cheating and others are natural for you?do these things will really give you freedom?

Dear friend, I do hope the Satan could do something good may be God make one thing better. Any how this world is full of limitations. Hence I feel God limitation is expressed through Satan inference. If we too have that Godly attitude I hope that Satan would never be able to interference in God's roles as long as we are along united with God. Unless one beleives in God the experience these experienes can be felt. As long as Satan prevails we all are fallen in provocations.

I don't believe in Satan. Satan was MADE UP by the Cristians to try to convert witches/witta (simple country folks) into thier church. They took the wihtches "stag god" of the forrest..turned his buck rack inot horns and made him look like a man. There is no Satan.-Just greedy Christians that STOLE our holidays and turned them into their own. For instance..Jesus was born in MARCH, not in december. So they stole out Yule and called it Christmas. Just like they STOLE our Samhain and turned it into All Saint's Day the next day! Christians are thieves! And they will do anyhting to keep their lands and buildings! There US a God/Goddess..and SHE would be horrified at what people have done to each other here on Earth? but ..NO SATAN. Be at ease. There is no sin. Only learning experiences to learn from. We are born..we grow and learn..then we pass to a better place and learn even more! It is all good!
