I really want to give up smoking. I know it's killing me - just got over a bad dose of bronchitis - but don't seem to be able to make that final ;leap of faith. How did you manage and even better how did you do it without putting on weight which is what really terrifies me as the only other times I did quit for a few months I gained TONS! HELP!

I gave up smoking 7 years ago I used to smoke 60 a day, I used the 24 hour nicotine patch, yes you will gain weight to start with but after about 6 months your body adjusts and you go back to your normal weight. If you just say to yourself all you are really doing is lighting up money because after you have smoked your cigerette you have nothing left and your money has gone, it does not help your health either. Go for it you have nothing to loose and everything to gain.

My dr. gave chantix and believe it or not it does work. however if you don't want to gain weight you might want to go for a walk or increase your activity in some way for awhile.
