I'm so proud of my oldest son!

He's 9, will be 10 in July and got himself a job helping the neighbor stack firewood. That in itself is pretty good but here's the awesome part...he was supposed to get paid $5 for the work but ended up getting $15 because he did such a good job! That's a lot of money for a 9 year old to earn in a day. And he's so proud of himself for doing it too. He's a great kid and I had to share this with all of you!

Your son sounds like he's a good kid. Did he just decide to go out and do this all on his own? That's pretty ambitious. You should be proud of him and especially proud that he did such a good job that he got $15 instead of $5. Doesn't it just make you feel great when our kids do something like that. Kind of makes us think that we're doing a good job as parents. Thanks for sharing that with us.

That's so great. The way some kids are today it's hard to imaginesome of them ever being that way. There's hope for society yet, LOL!~D

He's always offering to help one person or another. He loves to work and be helpful. It does make me proud of myself as well.

Sweet! You have every right to be proud of him. Definitely encourage that sort of behavior. What's he going to do with his windfall? Are you encouraging him to save some?

Yep, he wants to save up for something big. He'll be working there more so it should add up pretty good for him. He's always been a responsible and helpful kid so it's no big surprise he's having this kind of 'success' at a young age...he's got a bright future!

AWWW. I bet he was so proud of himself. He did a wonderfull job. I bet you are so proud of him as well. What is he going to do with the money? I feel its good to teach kids young what working and money is all about. Its good for them. Then when they get out in the real world the understand. Who knows maybe he will get a job when hes 16 and can get working papers. My boys are only 4 and 5 but I have them help me for money once in a while. Like in the spring when we clean up the yard and I plant plants. They help get rid of the old stuff, they help dig holes, and even help weed the garden. To them its fun because they are getting dirty and helping mom out. I usually give them 5-8$ each. Then they go and buy a toy with it. ~May The Kisses Of An Angel Cover And Protect You Always~ Copper

Thanks copper! Right now he's just going to save it up. He'll be stacking wood for this guy regularly so he's going to just keep the money for something big once he earns enough. He's a good kid like that.

Why that's mighty fine! Very positive story indeed. And it'll be interesting to see how fine your son grows due to this (and other life events of course). Its encouraging in my view.

its really nice to know taht. 15$ is really awesome for a 9 year old. it signifies taht he is going to be good at his job when he grows up. may be he is perfectionist. very nice of him.

That's awesome thing that your son worked hard and earned more than he was expected to get. Sounds like he has a great work ethic and that's awesome for these days. Yeah, that is great money for a kid his age. You should be proud.

Oh that is wonderful of your neighbor..We use to have a neighbor like that, who would offer my kids jobs when they were little..I think that was a positive part of their childhood, seeing how this elderly man had encouraged my children..

The old saying is "it takes a village to raise a child" and I do believe that quite often it's those kind neighbors that have a bigger impact on our children.

Good on your son and good for him getting out there and trying to earn some pocket money for himself. $15 is alot of money for a young lad and I'm sure he is proud of his achievements. I would be too.

Tell him way to go. Since he did such a good job they might ask him to do other small jobs too. My son will be 12 in July and he has done small jobs for the neighbors which they have paid him for like picking up the newspapers while they were on vacation, scooping the sidewalks and picking up apples in a yard that fell off the apple trees he likes any amount of money they pay him to do it.

If I was you I'd be really proud of your son because most kids just sit around and watch TV, but he got out and did something.
