Writer's Block

In the process of writing, I'm sure most of us have encountered that creative writer's block. I know I have encountered it so many times, I've lost count. So, what do you do to overcome your writer's block? What helps or gives you inspiration for you to be able to continue what it is you're writing?

Yes I do encounter writer's block every once in a while. There are times that no matter how long I spend surfing on mylot for interesting topics, I can't find anything that catches my attention. I guess those are times when I just don't feel like writing. I would try to read on and on, hoping that somehow I find something on the internet to talk about. Sometimes, I feel frustrated when nothing happens. Well, I would just tell myself that maybe tomorrow this writer's block will be gone.

Oh I hate writers block! It's so frustrating! lol. When I get it I either stop writing for a while. But I do continue to think about the story I'm writing. Whether I'm thinking about what I have already written, or brainstorming idea on how to go on with it. But I never actually write again until I'm ready, O keep it in my head until then :) Something else I'll do is go write something totally irrelevant to what I am working on. I'll either go write an article for Helium.com or AssociatedContent.com. Or I just write some really random, creative paragraph about anything...horses running through a field...a dog chasing a rabbit...a scene of weather conditions. Whatever! lol.

Freewriting, I believe, is one of the best ways to overcome writer's block. It's what I do to help me think of something to write about. Question though. What's Helium.com and AssociatedContent.com?

That sounds awesome. I'll try and see if I have time to create accounts for both. As I say, you learn something new everyday and I just did today. Thanks a lot. ^_^

When I have a bout of writers block I usually just have to walk away from my project for a time being which could range from a day or two to sometimes a few weeks or depending on whats goin on in my life, even longer...OR on rare occasion just spending time alone outside (in the warm months) is enough to get my juices flowing again..

Most of the time, when I do encounter inspirational delays, I merely put my attention to something else, it would take a while or so, getting occupied with something else and something just comes around in mind without expecting. From that, I go back a write it out. Motivation just gets along with imagination.

You're right. There will come a time that we encounter this "writer's block". i have encountered it a number of times. To help me continue it, i usually read books and get inspiration and after a minute or two, i'm down again in writing...

That's actually one of my ways to overcome my writer's block. I find that reading other people's works help me find inspiration to write again.

I have had it often but I sit down and start a stream of consciousness writing just putting down whatever comes into my head but using good grammar and spelling.I find later then I go back to work on my novel and I have found new enthusiasm for the task and sometimes I can even use some of what I wrote in the scribbling session.

That sounds like a good idea. Maybe I can try this the next time I have writer's block. ^_^
