I finally went in and talked to the store manager

Some of you may remember my post about the kids from my daughter's school being banned from the nearby store because one or more of the students set fire to the store bulletin board during their morning break. Not only were the kids banned during school hours but they were not allowed to come in after school was out unless they were with a parent. My issue was that sometimes after school I would send my daughter in to get what I needed because the pain in my back and hips would be so bad that it was hard to walk. Well, yesterday I went into the store to get a few things, and I figured I'd better talk to the manager while I was there. I explained to him how I fully supported his decision to not allow the kids into the store, and then I explained my plight and asked him if it would be ok for my daughter to come in for me every once in a while. I told him that I would be in the car, so he didn't need to have any worries there. He was so nice and kind about it and he told me that since I had come in to talk to him that it would be ok for her to come in. And he even thanked me for asking him about it. So now at least that's one more thing off of my mind. Thank you all for the encouragement and support on this. Big hugs to all........Carryl

Amazing what you can accomplish when you are nice and ask for whatever you need instead of being rude and demanding. Alot of ppl in this world can learn from you and other nice ppl. Glad the manager was willing to meet you in the middle on this, Kat.

I'm sure some of the other parents came in and told the manager off for what he did, because the look on his face when I mentioned the incident was like "oh no...not again!" I think he was pretty relieved that I was one of the nice ones, just like I was glad he was so kind about it all. Thanks hon.

I don't blame the guy for banning the kids. After all, he lost a bulletin board over some punks. He could of lost the whole store if that fire got out of hand. I can also understand why some of the parents were upset of it but being it's a business, the manager has to protect it. The parents should be doing a better job raising their kids so they don't go around causing trouble like that.

Hi Carryl,
I am happy that this finally got straightened out for you. I know that you've been in a lot of pain. It is very nice of your daughter to help you like this, also. I am so glad that you decided to talk to the manager personally.

Well, I didn't pass by your previous story on that but I just want to say that I am glad you talked to the manager. Sometimes people should let people know how they feel directly to better understand each other. I am sorry to hear you are having back pains. I do hope you get better soon.

That is wonderful, Carryl. I'm sure he was very appreciative that you handled it so well. A lot of parents throw fits, and that gets them no where. I'm glad he was able to see what was right, and made an allowance. Good for you for taking a stand, and doing it in a classy way.

I remember that and was wondering if you had been able to work things out. That was so good of him to be so understanding. I bet this must be a huge relief to you! I think in situations like that people generally are more giving to the people how are polite enough to just explain their needs. I'm glad it worked out for you!

Yes, it really is a huge relief. I had even expressed to him that I was worried about other parents getting upset that my daughter would be allowed in, and he told me not to fret over it. He was really good about everything. Thanks so much hon.

That's great that you were able to talk to him and get things worked out. I understand how they would be upset over the bulletin board being burned, but obviously they realize that not every student was involved in doing it. Great job!

He knew that it was only a few students that were involved, but apparently there has been problems with some of them stealing as well. So I think that's why he went ahead with the ban on all of them. I'm just glad he was so understanding with me and my daughter. Thank you for your wonderful response hon.
