I did for about a year as a Kid. Then again I was looking for a way to earn a few extra dollars last year when I saw an ad in the local newspaper "Carriers Wanted". So I called went in and got the Job. What a Thankless job All Thru this Past Winter Ice Storms, Snow Storms, Even A Blizzard one Day. I delivered Papers risking my car, my life. All for that Check For 150 Dollars. $100 of which goes into the Gas tank every two weeks. Now if everyone I delivered a paper to would Just Give a small Tip $1.00 a Month that would Give me an extra $119 dollars a month; it just might be worth keeping this route. If the price of gas goes up any more like they say it will this summer I won't be able to keep my route. And so says most all the other carriers. The few tips we get make it worth doing but not if it starts to cost more then we make.

I did this job when I was younger but it was the local free paper so it was just once a week. I got a flat amount for all the newspapers than I used to get one Pence for every additional flyer that got delivered too. I see that not only do you have a problem in that the price of petrol reduces the money you make but I guess that in times of a recession, one of the things that people cut back on is newspapers. I wish you luck!

When my son was younger he got a newspaper route like most kids were doing back then and it turned out that I did most of the work. I was the one who put the papers together then we would get in my car and deliver them...especially in the winter when he couldn't get around on his bike.
