Do you make more cookies that require baking than cookies that don't need baking in the oven? I like to make no bake cookies from the oven in the summer when the house doesn't need anymore heat. I'm always hunting for ones without peanut butter, as there are so many peanut butter recipes. Which do you prefer no bake peanut butter or something else? I make Oatmeal Cookies this way, but really prefer cookies straight from the oven.

I don't have any recipes for no bake cookies. lol Everything has to be baked. I also found out today that I need to loose 30 pounds!! I don't need cookies. lol I gave up my sweets and goodies, and I still gained, so I have to further my diet with no bread and soft drink, not even 1 glass and I will have a problem with that. lol

Thanks for the reply. I feel for you needing to lose 30 pounds. I'm planning to lose 10 pounds this summer and have already stopped drinking Pepsi and Coke, which was quite hard. Bread would be hard for me to give up, as love fresh bread. I'm hoping with somebody on my friend list I'll be able to lose the weight. My shorts are to tight again. Any tips are welcome, as I love to eat.

I am like you, in the summer months I like to make the globby gooey no bake cookies or rice krispie bars... in the winter I bake them in the oven. here is a recipe I came across the other day that I thought I would like to try... like you I find that most of the recipes are peanutbutter intense, which I like peanut butter but it is so expensive. 4 oz butter or margarine (1 stick) ½ cup milk 2 cups sugar 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips 3 to 4 tablespoons peanut butter (optional) 3 cups Old-fashioned oats (not quick oats) 1 teaspoon vanilla Place chocolate chips, peanut butter (if used) oats, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Combine the margarine, milk, and sugar in a saucepan; bring to a rolling boil. Boil for 1 minute. Combine the hot mixture with the oatmeal & chocolate chip mixture; stir well. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Makes about 4 dozen. (For more uniform cookies, can drop by rounded measuring tablespoon or melon ball scoop) Chill in fridge until set. this recipe was found at http://happyyellowhouse.com/htm/nobake.html and is much like what my mother used to make for us when we were kids!

I've been known to crank up that oven in the summer to bake. When the kitchen is all heated up, I usually wonder what I was thinking! I prefer baked cookies though. The only unbaked I can think of is fudgie no-bakes and sugar smack balls. I like both of those for sure.

Do you ever make the top of the stove kind of cookies with cocoa and oatmeal? They have peanut butter, too, but I imagine you could leave that out if you want to avoid peanut butter. I have the recipe, called Mammaw's Carolina Delight, on my blog at www.recipes-for-real-people.com I got the recipe from my grandmother and have wonderful, yummy memories of her fixing those cookies for us when we were kids. Since they cook quickly on top of the stove, they're great for "baking" in hot weather. Of course I make them year 'round. They're my boys' favorites and I've mailed dozens of them to both my kids in their military travels. In fact, I used to send them to my brother way, way back when he and I were younger and he was stationed in Okinawa. I think I got a marriage proposal or two from his friends in the process! If you haven't tried them, you should!

I tend to bake more then none bake. But then again myy family loves to have fresh chocolate chip cookies. The ones that have just come from the oven so the chocolate is still soft and gewy.
